What are Spyderco's factories in China and Taiwan like?

I am the proud owner of a Spyderco Bob T Slipit. A great knife, it has kicked quite a few folders to the curb, it's my EDC. The S30V and carbon fiber help out a lot, but the basic operations are down pat. Still opens smooth, no problems. Pretty good for a daily user.

Sal, if you're reading this, I just have to say it. LET'S SEE ANOTHER TERZUOLA, BUT LARGER!;)

The quality of my Sage 1 matches any production knife that I have held in it's price range, regardless of country of origin. It's an outstanding knife with top notch materials and construction. Had nothing but positive experiences regarding the Taiwanese Spydercos and I hold them in the same regard as the knives they produce in Seki City as well as Colorado.

Can't comment on the Chinese made spydercos since I have not used them

This post is quite old and the original poster is a known trouble maker (aka 'troll') here on the forums. I wouldn't worry too much about justifying anything at this point.

Many of my Spydercos are made in Japan I like them as much as the US models.

I admit that originally I was a little sceptical about Taiwanese and Chinese models, but am more than happy with my Salsa (Taiwan), Tenacious (China) and Persistence (China) models. If it carries the Spyderco name, it's good enough for me.

Amen to that

My new Gayle Bradley has far exceeded my expectations.
I read tons of good stuff about it and watched mostly great reviews on youtube, but I was still a bit leery of getting something made in Taiwan.
This Gayle Bradley is possibly my favorite knife already.
The action is beautiful and the quality is far better than anything I would expect for something in the price range... seriously.
I'm 110% satisfied with this knife made in Taiwan.

Whether we like it or not, globalization is here to stay and will only become more and more common. I have been buying Spyderco for 10 years now, and knowing that they make quality products, I am not bothered where they make it. I feel the same way about Sony. Most of their stuff is made in China these days, but still lives up to the high quality standard of Sony.

I am not the type of guy who will reward and/or subsidize lazy, sub-par companies that make junk products just because its "made in USA." (Not to derail this thread, but my dad and uncles would only buy American cars and had so many issues with them, it was just disgisting. They spent more time working on them than driving them! I have a Japanese car and in 6 years have had zero problems.) I give my money to people who merit it based on the quality of their product, not on what country they work in. Spyderco has earned my trust, and thus my money.

This thread has taken many interesting directions.

I tend to focus on quality first whenever buying anything, particularly knives. Spyderco quality out of the box has been high on a fairly consistent basis, regardless of the country they were manufactured in.

I fully agree. I love that knife so much, I bought 3 of them. There is something about that knife that is completely amazing to me. It feels like a custom folder through and through. The same goes the for Sage and Sage 2. Outstanding value for the money, top of the line materials, and I'm happy to be supporting an American company in the end.

"There is something about that knife that is completely amazing to me."
+1
Everything about it fits my hand perfectly, it's uncanny.
The way it opens - perfect.
The way it closes, with one hand - best of any knife I've tried yet
Balance - perfect
Love the weight of it, I like heavier knives.
I hope, almost desperately, that they do another knife with Gayle Bradley.
Piece of freakin' art, and a utilitarian workhorse one at that.
