The other thread was so popular that this question occurred to me while rummaging around my knife collection. Many of us buy knives on impulse and most of the time we're happy with our purchases. But surely most of us have on occasion bought a knife or two that for one reason just never grew on us. (Doesn't mean the knife was necessarily bad; it just wasn't what we thought we needed.)
The one that springs to mind in my case was the CRKT Ryan 7 w/teflon finish and oversized thumb notches. It looked nice in an online ad, but the blade was thick and stubby. The outfit that sold it to me was fairly reputable, but had not reflected the fact that the steel had once been AUS 6A, but had been quietly dropped to 420J2 by the factory.
Because of the stubbiness of the blade, there wasn't enough plain edge, nor enough serrated edge to cut decently and the blade dulled rapidly.
Anyway, that's my most recent. Yours?
