What are the LEAST FAVORITE Knives You Own?

Just got a CF Millie, and while it is nice, it just feels too fragile in terms of strength to blade length. I know this will bring the "if you break a Millie you abused it" comments, but it's just the feeling I get from it. I'd be nervous stabbing into anything harder than butter with that tip and pivot.

Gill Hibben Claw, my butts sharper......
Also don't like the K.I.S.S,
the CS Schmitar,
or the SOG Recondo

Gerber Paraframe. It's absolutely the most unloved of my knives but I'll admit I gained a small measure of grudging respect for it when I wasn't able to damage it with my clumsy throwing efforts. Only a small measure, mind you, since my target was drywall and not hardwood for most of this.

....and before your eyebrows fall down the back of your neck on the subject of trying to throw a folder, let me clarify that by 'unloved' I meant 'secretly despised and wanted a reason to throw it away'.

Anyway, I bought it completey on impulse and wouldn't be the least bit sad if it just vanished some day. I think I'm almost embarassed to have it. I'm just no good at throwing something away if it's still useful, though - so I'm stuck with it.

Cold Steel 4" blade, serrated-edge Voyager. The serration pattern is the same type that you find on inexpensive steak knives, sold in most supermarkets for about $5 each..... I liked all the other features on the knife. Luckily, I was able to exchange it for a plain-edge version the very next day.

Crappiest knife I've gotten in the last few years, a Fury lockback. But since someone gave it to me, I can't say it's my least favorite.

No, my least favorite would have to be one I paid for myself and was expecting something entirely different from what arrived. The Camillus/Timberline Pilot Survival Knife, a.k.a. "cheap Specwar lookalike".

I own several of the knives mentioned above, and am suprised to see them on the list. The K.I.S.S. for instance, seems like an OK knife, well-made and interesting design, especially for the money. BuckLite? I love mine, and carried one for a month-long desert survival program - it performed very well.

I don't own one, but I'm suprised to see the CRKY M16 mentioned so many times. Those are often recommended on the forums, if I'm not mistaken.

Cold Steel "The Spike." Comes with a sharp edge and is nice and thick on the spine. However, that nice, sharp edge wants to simply roll if you actually use the knife. I realize it is primarily considered a SD neck knife, but I don't really trust something that rolls the edge as soon as you use it. I only paid $20 for it, but for the same money I could have gotten another Gerber fixed blade (can't even find the model # on it.) from WallyWorld. That one I am surprised and impressed with, ezpecially given the price.

i have a $7 linear lock folder called 'Titan' It came with a special 'key' to tighten the pivot because it always gets loose lol When the guy was selling it to me he did a spine wack test on the back of his shoe before he would sell it to me and the first 2 failed haha the third one didnt so he gave that one to me. The lock up on it isnt terrible but there is a good amount of vertical blade play. Its the first folder i ever bought so what did i know

The only thing worse than the Gerber Paraframe is the Mini-Paraframe. I'm excluding Knife Shaped Objects (un-named and unmentionable things from Pakistan and China that looked like knives when I was young but were disappointing in every possible way). The BuckLite is a good knife.

I'm not very fond of my CRKT M16, either, but I didn't think about it until I saw the knife listed here 3-4 times. And ditto on the Gerbers, especially the Paraframes!

Weird...I love my M16...anyway,
Yeah, same here. I have been EDCing my new M16 for the past week and I kind of like it. It is my work beater, not a bad knife for work....or play.

Same here, I don't like the CRKT Prowler at all but I really like my M16 13LE, the size, weight and the spear point makes a great knife for the price. However, I don't trust it for hard cutting work because of the liner lock.

Well, for me, Has to be this cheap "non-brand" Knife i got at a trading post a few years back, gave it away i cut my hand with it cheap chinnease junk.
When i first got it i took it out of the box the blade slipped out. hahahahah so yeah

I just remembered a knife I saw for sale at Pep-Boys that is guaranteed to be on everyone's least favorite list. It was a no-name brand key-chain sized folder. The handle was made out of thick, SOFT rubber! It had a liner-lock that was thinner than the side of a playing-card! The blade looked like it was made out of chrome, with serrations cut into it. The thumb-stud, surprisingly, was more comfortable than some that I've seen on Custom-made folders! ..... The key-chain folder was sold from out of a shallow bin, for .99 cents each!

(Got to say, I generally enjoy shopping at Pep-Boys. But, I think I'll get a Spyderco Ladybug or Jester; if I want a key-chain folder).

SanShou, don't worry, the M16 will be the safest knife you will ever use....because you don't trust it.

The ones that "bite" are the ones that you trust.
And you never see it coming.

Cheers,
Allen.

Putting aside the El Cheapos for the moment, I will talk about normally high quality knives that I just didn't like for some reason.

I am a Spyderco guy so my Spyderco list is going to seem long. I don't hate these knives, I just didn't like them.
J.D. Smith, great looking but didn't like it.

Wayne Goddard, just seemed like a knife. Most Spydercos seem like someone put some thought into it but not that one. I could have designed that without any effort and I don't have much imagination at all!

Endura II, too heavy.

Para, it is my WORK EDC until it fails. It is getting very loose and the blade has chipped when it shouldn't have. Love the design, but the quality needs to improve on this one.

Native, just not my cup of tea.

Benchmade Mini Grip. Not my cup of tea either and I am suprised that it is so popular.

That's how I feel about my Wayne Goddard, nothing against the man himself, just that I would rather carry my Endura.

With the LAWKS engaged, I don't see this as a concern SanShou, and I think that function is automatic on the new LE's. Mine seems every bit as strong as my lockbacks, but I'm not stabbing trees.

Funny, I collect high end folders and framelocks, and I still like my CRKT M16 and my KISS. You can't beat them for the money.
