What are the must-have Buck knives?

The 119 and 110 are standards, but it does come down to preferences and what you want to do with them. I prefer the 110 Hunter, but someone else would choose the 112 Ranger. I prefer for owning the look and feel of the traditional brass bolstered, wooden scaled 110 and 112, but I also can't recommend the Slim Select variations enough for someone who wants an inexpensive, lightweight EDC that punches above its weight.

The one I've used the most was the 119 Special, but the Buck I like the most will probably always be the 401 Kalinga.

All of these plus the 117, and 212.

110, 119 & 125 make a pretty good trio. Of cause there's the variations 112 & 120 if you like those better.
125? typo for 122nemo /124 frontiersman? cause 125 was a fish fillet knife and the number was reused for a Chinese imported folder tin set?

Great thread guys!! Loved all the suggestions. Glad I had already chosen the core of the group!! Gonna add the 113 Skinner soon.

It's going to come down to your feelings/nostalgia towards the brand and what your knife needs/interests are. For me the Buck 119 Special is always going to be special, because it was the first time I did any research before buying a knife and also the first time I bought a knife for more than $50. The ones that have interested me the most to buy during my crazy knife purchasing stage of life were the Kalinga and the Ranger Skinner. I'd probably be interested in getting more of the upscale Legacy series knives if I could justify the pricing, which is crazy high. Other than the 119, the one I used the most was the tiny, cheap Mini Iceman 874 that I bought as an expendable warehouse knife (mostly used to cut plastic wrapping).

The Buck 110 is a standard for a lot of people, even if they don't end up carrying it, but I really like the Buck 110 Slim Select. It's a great budget knife and gives you a lot of what goes into the 110, but much lighter and with a pocket clip. There's even a pro version, made with upgraded materials. The Slim Select definitely punches above expectations of what a budget knife can do and gets a lot of use around the house.

Buck Mayo, discontinued, but a classic. To me it’s the best, a 440C 110 is a good runner up.

The 119 really epitomizes what i like in an all around knife. Not too big, not too small, slicey yet sturdy, classic design.
Even the guard is well thought out and doesn’t get in the way.

Conversely, as much as i tried to like the 124, it is unnecessarily bulky imo. the 119 is better all around for me.
