What are you paying for when you buy Emerson?

I LOVE the Horseman design. It could have been one of my top favorite EDC blades except it developed horrendous blade play and lock failure after two weeks of light use, opening packages mostly. I'm talking gas station knife play and lockup. It remains in my collection because I refuse to burden someone else with it. I should send it to Emerson but the thought of paying to ship it to them and sending $14(!!!) with it for return shipping infuriates me. After dealing with Benchmade and ZT customer service, that is another slap in the face. I guess that's the great warranty you're paying for that falls short of the competition.

With you 100% I actually got kershaw to send a prepaid label once over a broken blade lock on a leek, fixed and shipped back free of charge. Benchmade covers return shipping and any parts, sends free clips if you bend one etc. kai, and benchmade are two of the very few who get my money these days.
