What are you using until the Tweeners arrive?

A ~4" fixed blade is pretty much a bushcrafting standard, and while many here reach for the BK-2, 10, or Perseverance, those are all slightly bigger, badder blades.
The Tweeners are going to fill the long-awaited, traditional-bushcraft slot in the Becker lineup soon enough (only 7 more months :p).
Until then, whaddya' got? Here are my go-tos at present.

R to L: Koster Bushcraft (CPM 3V), Busse CABS (INFI), Laconico Bushcraft/Utility (1095), Fiddleback Recluse (O1)

And then, of course, I have some carbon Moras.

An ESEE 4 is on my list, but only under certain circumstances.
Moose, I'd like you to personally invite Jeff Randall to piss off a customer at Blade to the point that s/he sells an ESEE 4 on the spot.
I'll pay you the typical 20% finders fee, provided the ESEE goes cheap enough. :D

Center is a M. Wohlwend nessmuck and right is a Backwoods "sweeping beauty" (heh). Pretty sure the nessie will be my go-to most often.

Umm...yes, pretty much exactly!! I'm a little freer with my ESEE 4 and I have a nice, short Horton EDC that also serves. Also, I have only one Mora. Oh -- and a very nice Ban/Horton collaboration BT4 that can do anything.

Oh -- FIDDLEBACKS!! I have several, especially his wonderful Woodsman. Can never forget that.

Guess I didn't really have much to add!

Yeah, I tried to get Jeremy to do a thinner 4" blade for me for a while, but he was in a thick blade mood for the longest. Just never happened. That BT4 is a sweet knife BTW. I've handled one.
I have the Dozier Bushcraft on order, but it's still months out (16 month wait). I really like that Laconico. Mine is a 3.5" version which is very handy. I think I'd buy a 4" version too if I saw one.

My go to small blade is from a maker here on the froum, G L Drew. This is his interpretation of the Green River knife. I don't have any recent pics so I had to borrow one from Gerry. I absoluetly love this knife and have put a few miles on it.

Jeff is certainly capable of pissing of a customer. All he has to do is call them an idiot for buying one of his knives. He does it all the time on his forum. That's why we love hime so much!
Cheers

You're preaching to the choir, brother. Check about half my ESEE posts here and there. Most of them are begging Jeff to piss someone off to the point of a cheap sell-off. :D

And don't get the wrong impression about this thread. I know folks are going to hang onto and use their beloved knives--not suddenly replace them.
But I expect a lot of people are itching to add a Tweener or two to their stable of bushcraft knives. After handling and using at least one of them (the drop point), I am.

I always keep an eye out for Laconico knives.

My Horton EDC is a bit thick, but the edge is SO nice ... and stays sharp for so long ... and is SO easy to re-sharpen. Just can't ever count it out.

You mentioned Dozier. I actually forgot that I got a 4" (blade length) Dozier with a hardwood handle off of him at last year's Blade. I feel very embarrassed -- I ogled it, cleaned it, oiled it, put it in the safe. And FORGOT it until now.

I'm going to pull it out tonight and actually use it. Dozier knives should never be left in a safe. They are excellent users. Shame on me. [It's one of his Guides knives.]

Dang, Ray Laconico himself is peering in on this thread. Ray, I love that knife. Excellent work!

Was using a BHK bushcrafter, but I sold it on the exchange to buy new goodies. I've got a small David Farmer drop point that is awesome, but the pouch sheath I have with it offers zero retention, so I have to be careful.

I'm really bushcrafter-less right now. Guess I'll just have to keep using my '2 till the tweeners break loose...

What i think is a GREAT bushcraft knife on the cheap is the one i got for my daughter. It is an Ontario Spec-plus Air Force Survival. I paid $35 for it last year.

I can haz Fiddlebacks?

Love this hunter, one of my most favorite customs. I want Andy's Bushcrafter though. Much want there.

But, if you a Bushcrafter on a budget, nothing, repeat nothing will craft your bush better, than the Mora Bushcraft Triflex. Love this knife, man, I love this knife. Me and Willis were talking about them last night. Good knives, great knives.
