He's ma frien'.

I really like the looks of the Laconico Bushcraft/Utility. Sweet looking blade.

A guy I know named Bowden, has a few of Mr. Laconico's knives, and they are some really spectacular blades, both in fit and finish, and useability. Very good knives.

It looks very well made. I can imagine it's not overly cheap.

Until I can get my hands on some of that 4" goodness (yes, insert all kinds of innuendo there) I use one of Dubz's toenail clippings. It actually tests at 59 on the Rockwell scale!

soooo many comments to make there derek
soooo many Family Forum ban-hammer responses from moose

hrmmm, decisions decisions

Oh, I wasn't poking fun at anybody. I just can't hear the name Willis without thinking of Whatchyoo' talkin' 'bout Willis? :D

Mr. Laconico's knives are actually still reasonable. I would like to pick up a 4" blade before prices climb, as they invariably do when people do excellent work.

Hell no. :D

Damn you guys are hard core ! Guyon\Moose out knife buying...... ''I'll take that pallet load of knives over there, no, the tall one, hmmmm, maybe the one beside it also. There, that should hold me over for another week''. :)

At the risk of being branded a heretic, I don't really see the *need* for a tweener. I want one or more - don't get me wrong, but feel pretty well covered between my BK11 / 14 and my BK2 / 9.

Hey, I admit I got a little carried away with the Moras. :p But for less than $150, it's hard to have that much fun trying out knives. Unless, of course, you pick up a couple of Beckers. :D

I had 5-6 of those red Moras a few years ago that I bought at a farm supply store, seven bucks each or some crazy dirt cheap price. I drilled them and hung paracord on them for neck carry. They hung straight down and had the attached plastic sheath. I did this for a group of women that were going camping together, but that trip fell through and the knives stayed here. They were decent cutters but if I stared at them too long they'd rust. They still pop up in a drawer here or a box there. I'm more than happy with my little Eskabar right now. I like it a lot actually.

The 510 is a classic. Nice long tang on those, and well loved by bushcrafters.
Right now the only ones you can get are the Ray Mears green ones (mostly out of the UK), and they're expensive for a Mora.
Try buffing off the rust and wiping down with an oily rag after use for a while. You know this already, but you'll wind up with a patina that'll actually inhibit rust.
Or you could force a patina. I like a mango patina because you get all those cool iridescent colors.

Okee doke. I found one of the little boogers. I never really took them all that seriously but I did know that those little Swedish blades punched above their weight class. I like Mangos so I see some patina fun coming up. Maybe I should dig the others up and treat them with a little more respect.

That's the 511. Same knife, same tang. Just an added guard. When the 510 was discontinued, lots of folks bought a 511 and ground off the guard. I personally like the guard just fine.

Another one on my list is the Ka-Bar MK1 like the one tradewater reviewed. Maybe with stacked leather though.

Ok, I'll have to take that Beckerhead Number now. Probably have to get your man card too. And your hunting license. C'mon, give 'em up. Don't make me come take'em.

:D

Naw, I'm funnin'. There is a hole in the BKT line, but for most chores, a BK14 will do just about anything. The Mini Camp, Mini Clip, and Mini Mag are some seriously nice knives to handle. Just wait, I'll try to talk E into a passaround, or a win it before you can buy it contest, just wait, until, you, feel, the TWEENERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, just wait.

Rampaging mooses are mean. I actually have my eye on that mini mag for fishing duty but it's cause I want it, not cause I need it. :p
