What are you watching & why? (splain)

It will all come back together. The segment on Coruscant is setting the stage for a big character reveal that....we have only seen in the animated series so far. And deepening the story of the Empire's cloning experiments.
Well, now they only have one episode to make it all come back together. Possible, I guess. If not . . . I'm outta here. I really, REALLY, liked the first two seasons of the Mandalorian, but not so much Season Three. It's like Star Wars met Lost. No. Such a shame.

Watched a number of movies over the last couple of weeks. In addition to showing Pitch Black to my son for the first time, we also watched Bullet Train again, as well as Nobody.

I also watched a few that were new to me. The Gentlemen, a Guy Ritchie film, was simply fantastic. Everyone was brilliant in that film and it was a pleasure to watch.

Following the whole "British gangster" theme, I followed that up with Legend, a movie about the real life Kray twins that were active in the '60s. Tom Hardy plays both brothers and does exceptional, well worth a watch!

Departing from the above theme, I finally got around to watching Wakanda Forever. This might be an unpopular opinion but I didn't much care for the first Black Panther - it felt shallow, way too flashy, and they didn't do Killmonger justice at all. I loved the casting but I think it needed way more depth. That said, I really enjoyed the second installment and I felt the tribute to Chadwick Boseman was very heartfelt and touching. I am not really following Marvel much these days, the magic is far past its prime, but sometimes I'll sit down and simply enjoy the movie for what it is and not stress over the details - with that approach, I find that some of these films are a bit more palatable.
Guess I'm watching the gentlemen now

Agreed - I don't think this has been the strongest season of Mando so far. But I still have high hopes for what gets revealed in the last episode of the season.

I think we will start to see more intermingling of the various series that occur along the same timeline - Mandalorian, Boba-Fett, Ahsoka and possibly more. So some things may not get resolved in one series, but may come up in another. It was also just announced that a new film is in the works which will bring all of these various storylines and characters together, set at the time after 'The Last Jedi' and before 'A Force Awakens.'

I still love it, but I also realize it may not be for everyone. On the other hand, I have zero interest in the Marvel Universe movies, but I know many people follow them religiously.

Watched the new Dungeons & Dragons movie last weekend. It was very entertaining and I don't think you have to be a nerd to enjoy it. Wonderfully fun film to watch with the family, in my opinion.
I've heard the same from a number of other sources. Seems like they did an impressive job of creating something that wouldn't just appeal to D&D nerds. Gonna have to give it a try.

I grew up being taught that folks who played D&D were demon possessed, rock music was the devil's beat, werewolves and vampires actually exist, and a bunch of other hogwash that would be crossing lines if I mentioned them here.

D&D is a game for creatives and storytellers, that's all. The movie itself doesn't take itself too seriously and is a lot of fun. To each his/her own though.

Nothing to do with D&D. When I lived in Louisiana as a kid, I was sure Rougarou’s were real. Being in a cypress swamp with moss hanging from trees at night with all the shadows and noises will make you a believer! 🤣

I wasn't taught any of that. But my first exposure to D&D taught me that D&D is a game for people who like to stay up playing make believe pretend games until 3 or 4 AM and then sleep and snore their way through 7 AM Calculus class. 🤣
