My number one most comfortable folder I have ever put in my hand is the Spyderco Military!

2. Spyderco Police
3. Emerson Commander
4. Spyderco Endura
5. Buck Strider Sm.

Dozier's folding hunter, "original" size model ..... although some may not call that a production knife I guess.

Don't know what the next four on my list are, depends on the purpose.

My favorite is my HK34 that I Waved and then added my own linen micarta scales on.

Then I really like my David Boye folder. Great summer time knife that always cuts.

I like my Salt 1 also.

Then my list drops off markedly to customs.

I second chrisaloia. I now carry a Strider SMF and it's great but for size and comfort of carry the Military is very hard to beat. It is flat, fast, and has a nice long blade with a very useful shape. I didn't know it was in my right rear pocket until i needed it. My next choice would be a Benchmade Stryker for the handle shape. It looked odd, but fit my hand perfectly. Th striker carried deeper and I liked that.

1) Strider SMF. It is not only the most comfortable knife I have ever held overall, but also the most comfortable in every single grip other than whittling. Well, maybe not "comfortable" in a cushy sense, but a combination of comfort and retention. Security! The G-10 is the best I have felt. I like it very rough.

2) Spyderco Manix. Just a bit behind the SMF in every grip. The G-10 isn't as good and it lacks the big notches the SMF has. The overall shape is slightly inferior for retention and comfort. Overall, though, it is fantastic.

3) Benchmade Activator. It is small but fits my hand like a glove in the standard grip. The finger cutout is in the perfect spot for my hand and the notches on the spine work well and extend out far enough to grant grip to the index finger while in the whittling grip.

4) Buck Mayo TNT. The little lips on the top edges of the handle near the pivot work great as thumb and finger ramps. The holes in the frame offer great grip. Being so light aids the comfort as well.

5) Buck Short Nighthawk. Kraton in the right places. A great thumb ramp. Grippy and fills the hand.

Honorable mention to the Rukus and SERE 2000. I think the RUKUS is slightly too bulky, and the thumb ramp on the SERE 2000 is too slick.

The Military feels good, too. I think it feels great choked up, but a little lacking when I want my index finger to be further away from the choil.

Edit: I forgot about the Kershaw Spec Bump (probably since I do not own one yet so it wasn't on my mental "knife list"). I have handled the old and new models and find them both to be fantastic, though I prefer how the G-10 feels on the newer model. An S30V Spec Bump is probably my next knife. Fits my hand like a glove. The titanium Bumps are great too. If I were to stick the Spec Bump in on my list it would be 2nd or 3rd.

Edit 2: I also forgot about the Dodo (again, probably because I don't own one yet). But a blue Dodo is also on my to buy list, and I have also handled one. I'd put it right behind the Spec Bump.

1. Spyderco Dodo
2. Spyderco Scorpius
3. Spyderco Military
4. Spyderco Para Military
5. Spyderco SS Cricket

My Al Mar Mini-SERE is the most comfortable knife I have. It rides deep in the corner of my jeans pocket and I forget it is even there. It has a great feel in my hand and I am very happy with it. I have several other folders including the bigger SERE 2K, Spyderco Military and R knives and Rat-1 folders, but the mini is my edc and preferred knife.

Comfortable to hold:

Manix, then Scorpius...

Comfortable to carry:

Kershaw Chive

I don't have 5 production folders yet, but here are the ones I do have ranked in order or ergonomics.

1. CRKT M18-02
2. Spyderco Delica
3. Leatherman Wave

Spydie gets 95% of my pocket time though. Wave I bring when I do light visits in woods around my house, saw is nice. CRKT gets pampered a little more, the Delica is my workhorse.

I plan to get a Native, and from what I remember when holding it, it'll rank up at #1 for me.

Ok

1- Spyderco UKPK
2- Spyderco Para-military
3- Cheep utility knife (someone did put some thought in to it)
4- A Sheffield lock knife (no idea what it is called)
5- Leatherman Juice S2 (OK it's not a proper folder :D )

My most comfy production knives are: 1. Sebenza 2. Mnandi 3. Combat Elite RRF 4. Delica 4 5.Calypso, Jr.

ALL my Spyderco knives are EXTREMELY comfy!!

1: Dodo
2: Manix
3: Para
4: Blue Bump
5 is tricky....I will throw in something different, a three finger knife, the mini mojo. Being a 3 finger knife considered, very comfortable.

most comfortable to hold in my hand in no particular order:

Emerson Commander
Kershaw Spec Bump
REKAT Carnivore
Lone Wolf Harsey T2

edited to add:

Emerson Persian

  1. Spyderco Endura 4
  2. Ontario Rat 1
  3. Benchmade Minigrip
  4. Spyderco Salt 1
  5. Benchmade Ares 732

Here is my most comfortable. In my hand and in my pocket. It isnt' as grippy as one with G10, but to tell the truth, that is what makes it more comfortable for pocket carry. It's easier to take out of my pockets with grabbing the denim.
