When you go on the makers forum and check out knives for sale what details instantly put you off the knife ?

A few for me are....

Hollow ground,
Hidden tang,
False edge.

Serrations
Tactical look/feel
False edges
Big stamp on blade that says (Made in CHINA/PAKISTAN)
Comes with a video on how to "Slay the insurgents" ;)

:D

crappy sheaths:thumbdn:
false edges/swedges:thumbdn:
blade coatings:thumbdn:
different thickness's in handle scales.:thumbdn:

Cultish followings (see my signature:rolleyes::D)

Seriously though, clip points.:thumbdn::barf:

Serrations, crap steel, poor design (i.e. simply not practical), choils, ricasso's (to lazy to check spelling), recurve edge, and overly thick blades come to mind.

I don't dig skinner style blades with the massive upswept profile
Plain Jane knives that look like my grandma's kitchen knives

I would hope I'd never see these features on knives from our makers, but:
Hollow handles
Saw backs

My biggest pet peeve on custom knives is:
Uncleaned Ricassos!
I don't want to see black gunk in around the bolster.

Number 1 pet peeve is a big choil. Since I use only the handle for gripping and blade control, I want the edge to extend as close to the handle as is practical.

That is an excellent point. I see it much too often. Thanks for listing this one.

I thought we just did this one

I missed that one somehow. Thanks for the link

A handle that looks too slim/narrow or is contoured for one hand size and one grip only.

Yeah but that one was more actual manufacturers ( brands etc ) I just wondered what actual traits put people off ?

154CM, AUS-8 , 440 stainless..... If the knife is marked with these type steel; I will pass no matter the maker...:thumbdn:

Clip points -- Feh!
Deep finger grooves in the handle -- pushes you to hold it only one specific way and what if my fingers aren't the exact right size?

Clip Points
serrations
mismatched scales

(For the record, I LIKE both the Kershaw 1005 and Chris Reeve hollow handle knives)

I`m going to get writers cramp jotting all these down! :D Need to keep track so I don`t do any of them. (but I like clip points)

Mine are sawbacks and heavy metal guards.
