What are your dream knives?

Here are several that I wanted from the time that I was more into collecting handmade hunters:

Something from Dusty Moulton:

And a hunter from Neil Blackwood similar to the one he worked with Outdoor Edge to create, but I want one of his handmade knives. He has since shifted to folders and even finding photos of his older styles on the net is difficult:

Yes. Anything that costs less is just a shell of what japanese blades use to be, if you contract to have a katana made, it could take a few years and a few million to have that sword.

No, it would not take "a few years," and it would not cost anywhere near that much money. Custom, real Japanese (not Japanese-style) swords *are* expensive, I'll give you that. They can cost anywhere up to $10,000 or even more for something by a famous smith. And I'm sure they take their time to make the sword correctly. But it is incorrect to say that a real, traditional Japanese sword made by hand the old-fashioned way would take "a few years" and "a few million." The actual making of the blade doesn't take long. The real time-sink is the traditional polish and sharpening with finger stones and the traditional fitting of the fixtures. But that doesn't take "years," either, unless they have a backlog like any other blade maker. There are a few museum-quality pieces by the most famous contemporary swordsmiths in Japan that were made as ceremonial gifts for shrines by modern makers which probably would go for millions of dollars, but that's because they are artwork and have great cultural value.

Anyway, on to my choice of dream knife I can't afford. Some of the top-end Fallkniven knives are absolutely stunning. I really like the HK9cx, for example. But there's no way I can ever afford to buy a $3,000+ knife.
