What are your favorite GEC patterns? You can vote for more than one. Polls are limited to 20 selections so I grouped some patterns and have not accounted for variations. I've also left out one old pattern (sorry French Kate fans!) and the newest patterns. You can be more specific in your reply. Do you have an absolute favorite? Got photos of your favorite? I'd enjoy seeing them.

If I had to pick one, it would be a #23 PIONEER. On the other hand it's hard to stay true to the #23 with so many other great looking frames.

48, 54, 57, 73, 85. Those are my votes.

48 is the least carried and its in the form of the Scagel

54 is one of my top favorites of the group.

57 isn't an EDC of mine but I use it to whittle

73 can't be beat

The 85 may be my favorite of the bunch.

Sunfish, whaler, square end congress (specifically the 1/2 congres with the Un-X-Ld stamped bolsters.

I missed the equal end pattern, because the cattle barron needs to be in my pocket.

I have the pioneer square end 23 and 73, and love them too.

The sunfish I have is one of their all steel models, and it is so cool!

I always feel safer with a lock so #72 clip point stag top of the heap, but all handles are great.

I'm currently taken with the 53/54 cigar frames though I still like the 48s, 56s, and 61s as well.

I voted for the 85 Bullet End Jack, which I carry frequently. But, the 66 stockmans are very nice also.

I voted for 66, 68, and 72.

I have owned a 68 and a 72, and enjoyed the pattern (especially the slim profile).

If you would have forced us to pick one, I would have gone with the 66 because I love a serpentine jack knife with two blades, and find that size to be just about right. I do hope to have one, one of these days.

I forgot pictures. I no longer own these two, both have gone on to other users, but here are the ebony 68 and cocobolo 72 I used to have.

I voted for the 33, 48, 56, 66, 68, 73, 79 and 85... but the 33, 66, 68 and 85 are highest on that list. I've never owned a 48 or 79. I'm not actually a trapper guy but I just think the 48 is a very traditional design executed well... I want one (Trand is a bad influence on my knife buying! ...just teasing! ;) ). Although I'm not big on trappers, I think GEC did an excellent job on the Remington patterns so I had to have one. I do have a 73, because I like the jigged bone (Thank you Trand! :D). I like the handle shape of the 56 but I don't presently have one. ...The 66 Calf Roper is my top choice. They managed to squeeze a lot of steel into the 3.5" knife... same goes for the little 33. The 33 is a classic pattern. I hope they make one with three blades and a split backspring. The 68 is another pattern where GEC comes really close to the oldies. Great grinds on that pattern also. I also like the generous spear blade on the 85 and the special orders with screwdriver/caplifter or punch. Here are a few photos...

Nice poll!

Perhaps be easier to say which patterns I don't like...very few:D:thumbup:

But, the favourites in terms of use and examples I have are - 25 (a really solid chunky pattern) 33 (so much blade in a small frame) 68 (more of the same and broader) 85 (close to a Teardrop) 73 (in single-blade format, one of the best all rounders and a foundation stone of the company)

Good thing about this poll is that in the near future, there'll be more patterns to brood over. Well done GEC.

I only voted for the 48, 33, and 73. Not because I don't like the others but because I like and carry these the most. I have all but 3 in the poll and I like them all. I'm a big fan of the 66 and 53 as users as well. I love the look and feel of the #85 but haven't used it much because I've been using the #48J.

You're welcome Jake ;)

it was the #23 that started me down the slippery slope. I now have 5 #53/54's for personal use. that doesn't include the 3 others I've gifted away to friends.

Jake, that 66 micarta is top notch. I am sad that I missed those. Do you know how many where made? I will vote in a few days, need a little time with my new one.

i voting the 85. i dont have one (or any GEC really)
but its sooo pretty. Maybe in the future :D

My favorite is the #53 Cuban stockman. Great blade selection, cam tangs without half-stops, piles of handle materials to collect.

I really dig #85,#56,#62 with 2 blades. Very useful patterns and
comfortable in pocket and in hand!

I didn't vote for the #66, but I could really get on board if they would offer that frame with an Improved Muskrat blade configuration.

This year's Forum Knife is sure to be an instant favorite, whatever number they assign to the pattern.

Does the Powderhorn come under Toothpick? because it's my favourite even though I like the others.
