Hoarder!! :D

I have a Bronco Charlie in horsecut walnut bone that is similar.
It's the random jigging that suits my eye (besides the color).

You know Jeff, that's interesting that you described your Bronco Charlie in horsecut as "walnut". Do you remember Dennis Strickland? He described all of GEC's Horsecut as "Walnut" regardless of what knife the Horsecut was on and Lord knows that Dennis had plenty of GEC knives.

For instance, he described the knife I have pictured above as "Horsecut Antique Walnut" bone. I don't know if that was just his description or what. GEC's Production Tables list my pictured knife as "Horsecut Antique" bone. Anyway, I kinda miss ole Dennis. He was a corker and had gobs and gobs of GECs with two of each in many cases.

Yep, ole' DS was a peach. Sorry he fell afoul of the powers that be and left. He sure enjoys his GECs.

Horsecut Walnut is the darkest of the horsecuts, and the most used. The horsecut antique is a little lighter, and my favorite.
Both of those are now pictured in this thread. They did a #23 in the first year, 2006, in horsecut amber bone,
but I've never seen one.

I have two other GEC 440C Cubans in horsecut red wine bone and horsecut stained green tea bone.

Trying to show the texture, here. I accidentally reversed them-- the red wine is on the right.

Very nice Jeff. It's too bad GEC doesn't use the Horsecut in a wider selection of their knives.

I hadn't realized GEC had used it on as many as it had, before seeing the above posts. Thanks, especially for the pictures.

Now that I know to look for it, I hope GEC uses it again on future runs.

black mamba, I'm really liking that Red Wine you showed!
Especially seeing as it is a 440C blade :)

Here's a better detailed picture of the Horsecut Antique bone on the knife I pictrued.

It's too bad GEC doesn't seem to be using it anymore. The knife pictured is a 541208 and the one I have coming this week is the same - 08 of course being the year of manufacture.

Here is the burnt grizzly cut bone on a #23 from 2008.

And this is a #66 from 2010.

Thanks for sharing, Jeff.

Its funny how this handle material is less burnt and less "grizzly cut" when it reappeared in 2010. Mine is a two bladed #73, one of seven made.

The early burnt grizz (shown below) is a favorite of mine, though the way they're doing it now doesn't appeal to me. The jigging style appears to be the same as what they call horsecut.

I agree that it might be easier to figure out which pattern you don't like! Some of my favorites are the 72, 73, 56 dogleg w/clip, 25 barlow clip, 66 serpentine jack or calf roper, 62 easy pocket courthouse whittler, 54 Whittler. I just picked up my first 79 and 42 lockback - I don't know about the spear main blade on the 79 (would like it better maybe as a clip) but I am really liking that 42 lockback! Like the 33 but I too would like to see it in a 3 blade whittler setup. I also like the Powderhorn 12 - the extra blade makes the knife fit nicely in my hand. Like the White Owl alot too but would dig it in a 3 blade split spring also -but for a small knife it really rocks. The 48 Dogleg Trapper and Western Trapper are nice too. And the 85 has got such a classic look and feel to it. Last years BF knife was one of the best examples of the 85 in bone color, jigging, shield selection and in the EO notch.
