This is my favorite production slipjoint by a wide margin

Jake, that 66 micarta is top notch. I am sad that I missed those. Do you know how many where made? I will vote in a few days, need a little time with my new one.

It was a short run and I don't recall the number... maybe 8? Wayne (Peruna) was very kind to help me find this one (I can't blame all my knife purchases on Trand ;) ).

My favorite is the #53 Cuban stockman. Great blade selection, cam tangs without half-stops, piles of handle materials to collect.

That's an impressive group of them. The lava lamp catches my eye, I think that might be my favorite of their acrylics.

...This year's Forum Knife is sure to be an instant favorite, whatever number they assign to the pattern.

ooooh...yeah!

Does the Powderhorn come under Toothpick? because it's my favourite even though I like the others.

The powderhorn falls under toothpick.

I casted my vote for the #72 as the #1.
I need a versatile knife the works for everything and so far this knife has worked for everything. It's great in the woods, perfect class knife at the dinner table, awesome with food prep, everything. The biggest reason though for choosing this pattern is because of something someone else already said. A lot of non knife people can't handle the tough springs of my GEC knives, so in order to combat that I carry my #72 everywhere.

So far people open it with ease and after a tell them it's a lock back they close it perfectly.

They're pretty common, but I'm gonna have to say that the #56 dogleg Jack is my favorite general use GEC knife. The ergonomics despite it's average size are excellent and among the best I've encountered on a slip joint. All in all this is one of my favorite knives and the F&F couldn't be any better.

I really like many of GEC's patterns (12, 23, 25, 48, 53, 54, 56, 57, 61, 62, 66, 72, 73, 85), but I do wish there would have been a button for the #62 Courthouse Whittler exclusively ... that would have won hands down for me ...

GEC makes some of the best production slipjoints available, but most of them don't really tickle my fancy. The only ones I have experience with are the #54 Big Jack, #72 spearpoint, and the single blade #73. The #73 and #23 are the patterns that immediately come to mind when I think of GEC; the lines are beautiful and the proportions spot on. I would like the pick up a #72 clip point eventually though.

I like all the frames I have from GEC. Every one of the is a very nice shape. Great knives and very good in hand; so here it comes

#66
#85
#73
in this way so far.

And I have a #33 on the way, so maybe I´ll give another vote when it arrives. I´m looking forward getting it.

Kind regards
Andi

I voted for the

53 Cigar
68 White owl
However I don't have either yet.

I also love the 71 Bullnose Redneck Farm Tool which was not a choice. Great pics guys.

Sorry I left out the 71. It wasn't on GEC's pattern page and it didn't come to mind. Written votes are welcome for the missing patterns... even the French Kate.

Christian,
One of the nice things about the 72 is the lack of "nail buster" springs … it gives you a glimpse into GEC as a 'smooth operator' … highly recommended. (Never mind, just re-read your post and realized you already have a 72 … oops) … STILL highly recommended!

I've grown to really like the single blade slipjoints like the 73 23 and 48. I want to get the bull nose soddie with blk scales. Was in a bad accident last wk my single blade 73 was on the seat. Hope my father got it I had quite a few knives on the seat next to me maybe about 5.

Hope you heal up quick and have no complications. Also hope your father was able to round up your knives.
