What are your favourites locking systems and why?

You are correct. It can be done but its not as one hand friendly as the Axis lock.

Ya you cannot flick it open and closed like an axis. Personally I like stiffer action on my folders. I have no need to flick my knives open or closed. I even have my para 2 pivot tighter than most. :)

I would like to see any lock do what a Tri Ad lock can do. They can't.

The AXIS and compression locks will do as much.
Strong locks are, well, strong. There's more than one out there at the top end of the strength scale.

And my favourite by far is the good old titanium frame-lock.
I like the simplicity, and the elegance when properly executed.
And it's strong enough. If you can do rising stabs from odd angles into wood at full force and it holds, it's strong enough.

If the chemicals at the lab give me extra levels of super-strength, then I'll worry about it. ;)
And not all frame-locks have a thin cut-out...ever check out the thickness of the cut-out on the Spyderco Tuff?

Frame lock.
They're simple, strong enough, and work.
They look nice, lock the knife open well, and do their job.

My top five are:

1. Axis lock for it's super smooth ease of use combined with what I think may very well be one of the strongest, most reliable locks available today.

2. Hogue Button lock for reasons similar to the Axis lock. It's super smooth and reliable with good ease of use. Although not quite as strong as the AXIS certainly strong enough for any cutting task.

3. Triad lock. Although not normally as smooth as the above locks and often requires two handed closing when it comes to shear strength and reliability it can't be beat.

4. Sog Arc lock. Super smooth, strong reliable lock. Good ease of use again similar to the AXIS lock.

5. Modified liner locks of various manufacture. Classic, smooth blade deployment with easy one handed opening and closing. Not as strong as the others but I find a pleasure to use. Just something about a good liner lock that will never go out of style.

Frame lock(RIL), and liner lock a close second. Those are my two favorites by far.

I also like the compression lock, and a plain lockback(not a tri-ad) a good bit.

The locks I like the least are the CBB and Axis
