What are your thoughts on Kizer?

I suggest buying now, before the market catches up with the quality. The prices will most likely go up. They will still be a bargain, but more in line with US manufacturers. This is all just my opinion, though.

I handled a couple of Kizer's in a passaround, then went right out and did this....

One for me and a couple for my kids. And have a Gemni in a shopping cart as we speak.

Just saw this thread and bought a Kizer Cutlery Black G10 & Titanium Frame Lock VG-10 Flipper, for 84$, half the price new from gpknives, its a flipper with thumstuds, looks like a nice addition to my collection

Assuming things made in China have poor fit & finish is antiquated thinking in 2016.

Actually, more often than not, the fit and finish of China made knives verses US is usually a lot poorer. For example, the fit and finish on the spyderco manix 2 is a lot better than the spyderco Byrd or even the budget spyderco line. Also, maybe I shouldn't have worded it the way I did. I didn't mean because it came from China the fit and finish is poor. It was more the price point. $75 for quality materials coming out of China usually means they're cutting corners somewhere. Never saw s35vn go for under $100.

I think their f&f and materials are outstanding. The blade in mine doesn't thin out well and has been a pain to sharpen because of that and coming with an edge that had to be about 45* inclusive. But I got it cuz it was purty, and now that it's sharp I love it...at least til it gets beyond touching up

You're comparing a $100 knife to $30 knives.

And also making broad generalizations about the workforce in China, as if China was one company that produced things on an equal quality level. I think there's a man at Reate who would be more than slightly offended by such a narrow mindset.

I have one and I love it. Fit and finish are really nice and I would not hesitate to buy another.

no need to get butthurt. I was just giving an example. Even if it was two American made knives, a kabar dozier is not going to be as quality as a spyderco paramilitary 2. Hence the price difference. I'm not making a generalization about the origin of manufacture, as much as I'm stating that the lower price tag correlates to the fit and finish. I don't care that it's China made. If I did I wouldn't consider buying it.

JDX, I understand where you were coming from:thumbup:

As someone else said, China-made knives have come a long way in 2016...I couldn't agree more! In recent times, I personally had a hard time coming to terms with the fact that China could make a quality knife. It wasn't a racial thing, it was a historical thing. China has historically put out cheap and low-quality knives, and that is a fact.

Things have changed though, and so should your collection. Add a few Kizers and Reates to your shelf, and you'll know that knives can be produced at a higher standard without an expensive brand name:)

I really appreciate the information WITHOUT being offensive. I feel some people on this forum feel everyone else has the same knowledge as they do

Then compare the Manix to the Kizer Vanguard Dorado, or something of equivalent price.

Don't mislead in an attempt to support your point.

I was making comparisons with knives I've personally handled. Never even seen a Kizer before so idk anything about it. I see a bunch of no name knives that go for similar prices as kizer, and I'd never buy them because the brand has never even been mentioned on this forum using the search bar. I was simply trying to get information on a knife company, I wasn't trying to offend anyone and maybe some of my posts were misleading. Id be really appreciative if you calmed down, and if someone says something you don't agree with, simply inform them of the truth. Not everyone on this forum is a knife nut who has the money for hinderers and sebenzas. Some people on here need quick reliable information that a quick Google search wouldn't fulfill. Before you assume that I'm insinuating that you're a knife but who owns hinderers and sebenzas, I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about my experience in this forum. If you're going to be rude in your posts, don't bother posting.

I'd love to, sweetheart, if you'd but grant us the same respect.

God forbid that someone questions a China-made knife, when historically, China-made knives are known to be crap...

What are you trying to argue about? Are you arguing.....for the sake of arguing?

Purchased a Kizer Vanguard Gemini about a month ago and loved the action. Smooth, smooth, smooth. Gave it to my brother for his birthday about a week ago. Decided to travel 5 hours to Blade HQ in Lehi to purchase my first Hinderer. Got a Vangard Intrepid, Klecker and a Ki403A1 and left the Hinderer there. Couldn't be happier.

They make very good knives. Prices range from fair to exceptional. I am, however, not a fan of liner or framelocks, so I don't plan on buying any more. Well, until 2018 or so, when the patent on the Axis lock expires. Then I damn well want a waved, Axis lock Kizer folder.
