What benchmade to buy?

go for the 710, you won't regret it:)
Ive carried mine for 2 years and it is one heck of a useful knife.

I have a 943 and a 615, and the 615 is my favorite. You want go wrong with any of your choices.

Ok so that's 2 votes for the 710, I've never held one before but they look really nice!
this forum needs a poll option.

EDIT:

I love the Rift, I feel in love with it when I saw it at work. But it is one of the more expensive ones, But i do agree with you on the axis lock, I would like to have that over the liner lock, that's about the only thing I don't like about the dejavoo.

The rift should be about the same price as the others. I think it is just about the same as a 710 and should be cheaper than the mini-rukus. I also agree that if you are getting a good discount to go with the more expensive one to get the most for your money.

I had a 710 and ended up giving it to my dad. I bought one of the M4 versions to give it another try but just can't warm up to it so it will go in the safe for awhile. The AXIS lock just is not as refined on it as the newer models.

I really like the 14205. It fits the hand great and is super smooth and I like the jimping on the blade. But the rift with its contoured G10 and different color just adds to a great knife design. I'm not sure which I like more but the rift is newer and is seeing more pocket time for now. I do know that between the 2 I have no desire to buy any other knives right now except maybe picking up a backup for the 2 of them.

Ahh Choices:

The 710 is an all-time classic and worth owning at least one.

The 14205 is one of the best knives Benchmade ever produced. Great design, super smooth and slim like the 710.

The Rift 950 is a great knife also, slim too, but with very grippy G-10 handle scales.

The 615 is a large knife for a "Mini" but carries in the pocket well and has one of the best grips due to the handle design.

All are good knives and which one to choose is a hard choice.

Recommendation? Find a dealer in your area that carries these models in stock and try 'em out!

I agree that if your gonna get a Benchmade (which I highly recommend doing), go with an axis lock model. I personally love the Rukus, it is a tank with s30v and you can switch out and customize the handles...you can't go wrong with that. I had two Grippers before which are really nice, but the handles felt too plastic for me so I ended up trading them. I have never handled a 710, but I have heard nothing but great things about them.

Bottom line here is.......get rid of that Smith&Wesson SWAT knife! (Haha)

Welcome to BF!!

The mini-ambush is a great knife Cabela's is selling it right now for 29 bucks...jump on it while u can!

I just received my orange Grip. My 4th Griptilian actually. I love it, not as much as the Ritter Grip I had, but it's a very, VERY close second. Super sharp out of the box, great feel in the hand, just a great knife. For under 70 bucks no less.

Man, This is getting to be a hard decision. Seems like 710 is the most popular but I've never handled one and here allot of people saying the axis lock is not as smooth as the newer models. But from the reviews I've seen and just from the aesthetics it looks like a great knife. but still undecided, I wish I could have them all. :(

That the 710 is a terrific knife, is beyond question. That said, for me, one of the finest EDC knives I have ever owned is the 550HG. The modified 'sheep foot' blade, with it's great belly and strength, is ideal for most daily tasks. As well, the 550 carries well and is both light and comfortable, for my mitts at least.

If you want to go upscale, a 552 Ritter Grip is pretty hard to beat. (See avatar)

all of them!!!!
i got a mini rukus, but get rid of those nasty green inserts, get the carbon fiber ones!!!
get the griptilian D2 exclusive
i am about to throw down the cash for a dejavoo

I'd try the Apparition, if I were you.

Otherwise, I have a 710 and a Dejavoo, and can recommend both highly, although I like the tall, flat-ground blade of the Dejavoo a little bit better.

From your list, however, I'd pick the 940 Osborne.

i say 710 or 940 or 615 all axis lock knives, just depends on which handle material you prefer and the blade length you prefer! good luck choosing!
