What BIG Blade Tac Folders Do You Like?

Hey all,

I carry a Spyderco Endura every day and have wanted to get something else for a change. I like the larger blade carry knives so I went looking on the web to see what was out there. The first I came upon that I liked was the SOG Spec Elite II. It has a blade that is 5 inches. Even though it looked good in pictures and video, it might be just a tad too big. What do you all think? I seen some others from Cold Steel, Gerber, Benchmade and a few others that I can't recall right now. I am talking about blades that are 4 to 5 inches in length.

What EDC BIG Blade knives are out there that you really like and maybe carry yourself? Do you think that knives with blades that big are too unwieldy and pretty much useless unless defending your life with it?

Also I know there are LOTS of custom makers that put out some absolutely beautiful blades, but most of us can't afford $300 for a knife. Of course if you have pics of customs, please post them cause we all love pics, but try and keep your recommendations to production knives.

I'm with ya on blade size, I won't carry anything less than 4" approx.

I love large folders and have carried several in hard use scenarios over the years. I have to say that hands down the ZT0200 was my absolute favorite! I have really beat the crap out of mine and It still has zero blade play, very fast and smooth deployment and i have always been able to resharpen it easily.

One item of note is that I almost never pocket carried the knife. It was usually strapped into a pack or on my belt. The handles is very beefy and gives a lot of purchase, but it felt too fat for my pockets, seemed to ride hard against my hip.

Recently I have been given a couple striders. I have been using the SMF CC and I will say that it can hold up to any of the task my ZT could and it is very easy to conceal and very comfortable to carry in pants for such a large blade.
 
Cuda Maxx, All the CS large fixed blades (6 Ti Light, Espada, Spartan, Recon 1 etc), Spyderco mili,chinook and manix, There are a few larger Benchmades I like but the #'s and names escape me. REKAT SIFU!! one of my favorite original big folders:thumbup: ZT 0302, 0200, MUDD, CRK Sebenza, Strider AR and SMF. I own a plethora of larger folders as I just like the size of them.
