Being that today is Veteran's Day I was just wondering what branch did our great members serve in. Was there a reason you picked that branch at that time? Would you do it again? Maybe a story or two about your time served. Thanks to all Veteran's for your service!

I joined the Army as a 19D Scout. I always told myself growing up that if America went to war, I would go with her, so I did. Very early on in my service I got hurt pretty badly overseas, and was forced to medically retire (I fought it with everything I had, but there was just no way). The Army retired me at 90%, and I'm now using my MGIB to put myself through nursing school. I still feel that I owe the my Country, the Army, and my brothers and sisters in uniform more than I was able to give during my AD time, so once I'm done with school, the plan is to get a job as a DoD civilian and get back overseas most ricky tick.

I pretty thoroughly ruined my body, requiring years of treatment and physical therapy, I lost more friends than I care to put a number to, and spent my entire time enlisted (up to the point of my injury and minus about 30 days of leave time) away from my family, but I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. If the phone rang tomorrow and they said I could go, I'd be on the first thing smokin.

1st Squadron/17th Air Cavalry, 82cd Airborne, Ft. Bragg. 1977-80. Good times, lotta good men. Our senior officers and NCOs were all Vietnam vets. They could put things in perspective.

My Dad was Army.
I joined the Army National Guard because all the guys in my High School Seniors class did.

Enlisted in Regular Army after I graduated because it never occurred to me to
do otherwise.

Might have considered the USMC had I thought of it.

Were you at MINSY at the time.

We had to travel up to Bremerton to turn them in. The boat was in MINSY for a refueling overhaul when I enlisted, it had just come out when I was assigned after training in '78. My first run we picked them up and my last run we turned them in. The boat was still refitting at Pearl Harbor when I got out.
