I need to know what brand makes good fixed blade knives and has a website where I can buy online. Don't say Buck or Cold Steel. I don't like either. Buck uses stainless steel and Cold Steel uses crappy sheathes and all their knives are over-priced. I don't mind paying for quality, but I don't like Cold Steel for a few reasons I won't get into. I'm mainly looking or a good fighting knife, also a hunting knife. Someone please help!

You can find plenty of what I think you're looking for by Kabar and Becker. There's also a ton of other reputable companies you might want to look into including ESEE and I've heard good things about Case's fixed blades.

Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard are two good Companies, also Survive! Knives.

Bark River Knife & Tool offers a huge variety of different styles and different sizes for different purposes.

Buck's stainless steel is extremely highly regarded, and writing them off solely because of that is kinda foolish IMO. They didn't earn their reputation by using shitty steel, and for your intended roles there, the stainless steel on their knives is absolutely fine.

If you still want to dismiss Buck out of hand though, try Kabar?

Contact Gary Wheeler. He can probably make you something to your own specs. He uses O1 tool steel.

Here is my neck knife I got from him at Blade.

Those knives are nice, but what I really want is a bowie. Guess I should have been clear about that up front.

You said that you wanted a fighting knife, that's what Kabar offers.

Aside from that. They also offer some nice carbon bowie type blades meant to work not fight.
Start with the Kabar Large Heavy Bowie and Becker BK9.

The clasic USMC style kabar is considered a Bowie and it can fight and hunt. They've skinned many a deer over the years.

But I don't call anything less than 9" in length and about 2" wide a Bowie.

Stainless steel is for kitchen knives. I don't care what Buck says.

It's not about what "Buck" says, it's what thousands of hardcore knife owners and users have said, people who have skinned dozens of deer, rabbits, and squirrels with them, people who have carried them for 20 years and know exactly what they can and can't do with them. But if their words don't mean anything to you, and you wanna avoid Buck because of some silly "stainless steel is for kitchen knives" way of thinking, so be it, there are plenty of other options out there like Kabar/Becker, Esee, Busse(if you have the cash for them), and so on.

I am a big CRK fan and when they made the One Piece Knives, I would say them bar none. But they are gone and only available via the forums exchange and ebay and such. They do make some military style fixed blades, I highly recommend the pacific. Comes with a spec opps sheath and Gfeller leather sheaths are available. As for others, Busse makes great knives, but again they make them in runs and you would have to find one you like then track it down on the exchange or ebay yet again. Bark River makes probably the most fixed blades of anyone I know. They offer different steels as well like A2 and S35VN and 3V and many different handle materials ranging from G10 and micarta to exotic woods. There are several dealer websites that stock them. I used have many bark rivers, but sold most off as I realized I was buying Too Many of them.

I use things I've learned over the years from many different styles, not just one specific style. But I don't plan on fighting anything, but I anticipate fighting either muggers or multiple guys that try to jump me with melee weapons (if that ever happens to me). I've actually had guys come up to me wanting to rob/mug me before, but my size has been enough to make them think again so far. I'm very familiar with knives and I don't have a handgun yet, so that's why I'm looking at knives for right now.

kabar-becker and esee for good value, bark river for amazin quality fit an finish
busse for the best of the best but you gotta pay for it:D
