just from finding your way to Bladeforums?

for me it was;
ESEE (Rat knives)
BUSSE'kin (Actually i remember the ad's from years ago, but now it is huge)

Along with the wealth of knowledge this forum contains from the makers section, the manufacturers forums, on to everything else. I haven't found a source of information that has captivated me with its completeness like BladeForums has in a long time.

For me, Busse, Chris Reeve, ESEE, Case (I know sad right?) Microtech, Protech, Emerson is a big one i wish i knew a long time ago. K9 Knives another company i wanna get a knife from as well.

Esee, Fallkniven, and Bark River. No BR's yet, but a wack of the other two !

This explains my poor financial situation . Thanks, Bladeforums,for making me a poor, Happy :D, knife owner :p

For me it was Emerson, my current EDC for the last two years. Oh and "customs" before i joined here I thought customs were only made by blacksmiths, a long time ago. ha ha

Spyderco was my big one...hated the hole at first, now since I own many spydies it seems I like them. Great knives...

Sanrenmu, Benchmade, Emerson, CRK, Strider, Opinel, and many others.

Hi ron_m80 -

I discovered JK Handmade Knives, Emerson, Spyderco, and a host of other brands.

Essentially, all I knew about were Case, Buck, Kershaw, Puma, Boker and Henckels.

Now I have read or heard about literally hundreds of brands of custom and production knives - too many to list.

best regards -

All but SAKS for me. But I still had to wade through a lot of overly tactical or cheap stuff in my knife infancy anyway. Ignorance for me and what I know I prefer today.

This forum pretty much opened my eyes on how expensive and cool custom knives are like Chris Reeves, but there are also companies that spark my interest on knives like ESEE, Buck, and Emerson.

The purchases I've made after reading tons of worship here on BladeForums are Chris Reeve and Busse blades.
I'd seen 'em a lot in the catalogs but never knew what made 'em so spiffy.
I'm now interested in Emerson and ESEE knives. Unsure if I can justify a new purchase at this point.
I gotta admit that even though I have a few top notchish blades, the Kershaws that I've had for years and years impress me quite a bit considering how much cheaper they are and what you get for your money. Kershaw really does make some nice blades, my hat is off to them - good value.
BF also motivated me to get a couple of extra Spyderco blades that I am quite pleased with. Spyderco = good value as well.
I never had any idea that this forum would cost me so much freakin' money...
:confused::eek:

If you like the kershaw value, i doubt you will find a reasonable person that would tell you your interest in ESEE will disappoint you IMHO.

I always carried a spyderco endura before discovering bladeforums. I didn't know I had taste until after joining this site. The knives I've bought because of this site would be the:

NWA Sierra Scout
Landi PSK
and the Spyderco Bushcraft.

I blame all of you... ;)

Busse, Fehrman, Hinderer, ESEE, Strider, and a whole host of custom makers like David Mosier, Begg, etc....

Pretty much all of them except leatherman,victorinox,wenger, and gerber.

yup, i'll add spyderco, ontario & ka-bar (but not becker) to the known brands to me prior to joining bladeforums.

aside from the other knife brands, i'd like to add that bladeforums got me into hiking, bushcraft, and kayaking!

I've always had a thing for knives as far back as I can remember. I used to have a small wooden box full of knives that I had collected/found over the years. They included things like Shrade, Wenger/Victorinox, Imperial. And then I edc'd a Kershaw Scallion and CRKT M16 for years until I found this forum. I already knew about the the main big companies although was not at all familiar with Spyderco. I had heard of them but never really handled one. Since then I have found so many awesome brands that I like very much. Some of my all time favorites are Fallkniven, Chris Reeve, Benchmade (still), Al Mar, BRKT, and various models from all sorts of other brands. I also have found a host of custom makers that I'm starting to become more and more interested in. I got my first fully custom knife about a month ago, a Koster EDC prototype and I love it!

I found out about Mcusta and many of the other manufacturers you've mentioned here.
