What Brands Won't You Buy Again?

No pissing match. Just wondering where you were coming from.

Hibben has made and designed a lot more than fantasy knives over many years. He designed Brownings original line of knives back in the 1960s. United has also made many of his designs in hunting and Kenpo knives over many years.

I have a Hibben designed Pro Folder from United Cutlery that I bought in 1998 and it has served me very well. I have also found the Hibben/United throwing knives to be very good and a real value.

Mainly, I wanted to point out that a Hibben knife and a Hibben designed knife made by someone else are differnt things. Hibben's handmade knives have earned their place as among the best you can get. Hunters and soldiers have been saying so for over 50 years.

I didnt know that. Thank you for clarifying that for me. I thought he just did those cheep fantasy knives. I retract my opinion. Sorry for the mix up.

Just to clarify, without being political, Taylor has most of the current Schrade-brand knives imported from China. But some have been contract-made by American manufacturers as well - Camillus, Bear, and others.

I must admitt that I like some of the Taylor knives. I have a sharpfinger that I truly love.

Ka-Bar
Case
Schrade
Buck
Gerber
Low end Spydercdo, Kershaw, BM. (I love the high end knives from these makers)

And any other K-Mart "Blue Light special."

Old Italian proverb:
"Cheapa U buy, cheapa U get."

LOL
Does anyone know what's going on in the last photo on this page? What kind of machine gun is that?!? We certainly don't have anything even close to that in my arms room. Who fires a gun with a spade trigger like that? Wow. Maybe he ditched his tri-pod so he could carry that knife around.

It looks like a wooden mockup of some stage prop guy's idea of an "authentic" 30 cal. air cooled Browning, which actually has a pistol grip and is never fired off a mount. No wonder the model covered his face, probably embarassed to be seen in such a bogus pic (if not, he should be :o). I wouldn't buy anything from this company.

Looks like a Browning M2 50 ( perhaps M2 HB or M2HM-CQB ), or a Breda 37 chambered in who knows what... definitely missing the tripod , would carry that for far for long. :D

Had some trigger time on a M2 ( and a Breda 37 ) , fun stuff...

Hmmm.. It honestly looks nothing like my M2 .50; although I am unfamiliar with the variants you mentioned. However, I agree, fun stuff!

What a cheesy way to sell knives! Even my civilian buddies would call BS after seeing that picture.

It's sad, but I have to agree with with several people have said in this thread about the decline in quality of some brands that I used to really like, such as Cold Steel and Gerber. I have several CS knives, but none have been bought in the past fifteen years. I liked theirr original Outdoorsman, and the Mini-Outdoorsman, and the Mini-Tanto. And I thought the SRK and Recon Tanto were not bad knives for the price. These days I don't even look at 'em. Same with Gerber -- I have several older ones, but haven't seen anything produced by the company in years that interests me.
Case slipjoints? I have a few, but don't care about them much anymore -- I agree with the person who said they just seem to be phoning it in.
