What brings your here? What keeps you here?

What Phil, Wolfmann and others have said We have our ups and downs, but it is a pretty darn good group and I feel lucky to be a part of this community.

I got to Bladeforums through Benchmadeforums and then knifeforums. I just enjoy talking to people about knives. So often everyday people have little or no interest in knives. In fact, many people are actively hostile to knives so its nice to know that I can carry on discussions with people who don't think I'm weird or a potential criminal.

Bladeforums has had a huge impact on me in that my reading and discussion here convinced me to try out knives that were far more expensive than I would have bought without any prompting. Before bladeforums, $150 was a huge amount to spend on a knife. I won't say how much i've gone over that because my wife is in the room;) :D !

Bladeforums.com was recommended to me by someone at talk.shooters.com.

I knew NOTHING when I started. I know a little bit less of nothing now. I keep coming back because someday I'll buy another knife. Here I can find out what's good at a price that won't kill me.

I've mentioned this place to others, but they just ask me when they have a knife question (and I pass the ask along!)

I come here for the pretty girls. OH. This is "BLADE"forums. Not "BABE"forums. My mistake.

I was doing a search on custom knives so I could find someone to make me a folding painter's knife of my own design. I found a lot of links to BF. I followed a few and saw many discusions of Sebenzas and Apogees both of which I was quite taken with. I ended up buying the Sebenza but never got the Apogee.

I was absolutely amazed at the variety of custom knives. I had no idea that there was this huge knife world outside of the AG Russell catalogs. I also had no idea how many would end up finding their way into my pocket....The forums have been VERY costly! And I'm loving it. :)

Being a craftsman I immediately gravitated towards the shoptalk section and started asking questions and showing off what little skills I had in related fields. I thank everyone for their patience with me. It's been a lot of fun and knives and handmade tools have really become my life.

Why do I stay? For many of the reasons stated above. I have met some great people through the forums and hopefully will meet many more. I get a kick out of many of the characters that are here too. I also like to teach so answering questions is a fun thing that I try to do when appropriate and also when I just can't resist opening my big mouth! :D

Luck, pure luck, that's what brought me here. You know how when go to look something up on the Internet, and you get side tracked, you do a search and a link leads to another , than another, and before you know it you have no idea how the hell ya got here.

That's how I got here, but once I found it, I bookmarked it, registered, and I'm here everyday at one time or another.

I'm hooked.

What keeps me here, as opposed to the many other sites I'm registerd on, is the people and the layout. I'm still very new, the topics, and the people have kept me interested. I've learned more than I ever would have by myself, I've met tons of great people from makers, to dealers, collectors to some one like me who just stumbled on.

It's like what someone once said, when being asked, why they kept tuning in to Howard Sterns Radio show? Their answer was," To see what happens next." I want to see what's next.

I was having sharpening problems and had a lot of sharpening questions...I tripped over Blade Forums while scouring the countryside for some sage advice...in the 11 months I've been here I've increased my knife knowledge about a hundred thousand times over what I knew before...and met a lot of nice people. :)

I came about BF through my friends. They signed up onto BF couple months prior to when I signed up. They were saying how they got to see pics of products and the vast amount of info and just a really fun community type of forum......so I decided to drop for a visit and stayed read a few threads. A bit after that, I signed up and started using the search for stuff I was thinking of getting.

I was in the process of fullfilling a life long dream...opening a knife store. I wanted to be in-touch with what people really wanted in a knife. I found a number of forums (all great places), but I make my "home" here beacause of the people.

I think I actually joined chat before I joined the forums, so I got to meet all the most interesting people first.

I came to BFC to find out about my dads Schrade switchblade which I aquired when he passed away. I had always had a knife or two around and was also getting interested in multi-tools at the time. I found myself hanging around community and getting to know who was who. What keeps me coming back is the entire site and the fact that there is little bickering or ridiculous posts (except the rodent gerbil  )Seriously, it's a great group here:)

Hmmm, sorry for the double post.I must have twisted too many wires together at the same time:o

I came over from knifeforums a while back when they were having some trouble over there. (Can't remember exactly how I got on to knifeforums in the first place.) Still go back there once in a while. Also go to a few others, but Bladeforums is still my primary place to hangout.

What keeps me here? The sheer amount of information on knives, all the discussions going on, the generally helpful people (I try not to let trolls bother me, nor those Busse vs. Maddog, Busse vs. BKT, Emmerson vs. etc., threads). :) Just a generally good feeling of community.

What brought me here? A link from the infamous Kysa...:p

What keeps bringing me back? More useful information than BS on this forum and did I mention the interesting people here...

The people brings me here, and the same people keep me here. Very helpful, knowledgeable and trustworthy people keep bringing me back.

I've always carried a small slip joint & started collecting various slip joints, lockbacks, liner locks; started picking up some fixed blades. I eventually got the idea to find a custom knifemaker to make a knife from an idea that was 'bouncing' around in my head! While checking out several web-sites, & leaving e-mails, one of the knifemakers had contacted me & mentioned Blade Forums. Told me it was a great informative knife site with a little 'wackiness' to it also. I checked it out, was a lurker for awhile, enjoyed the people, info & the 'wackiness' & the rest is history!
I always check out BF in the a.m. before work (if I have time); sometimes at work; then again in the evening after dinner. I never spent more than 1/2 hour on the internet but with BF I'm usually checking things out for 2 hours and enjoying it! I thoroughly like all the knife topics as well as 'Gallery', 'Community' & 'Whine & Cheese".

I started getting interested in knives again, around the time I registered. I came to in through links while investigating knife throwing. I keep coming back because there it constitutes a community of people who have this passion in common, and because I continue to learn from people's experiences and their knowledge in the areas of knife testing, steel, the results of different applications of knives, sharpening tips and tactical awareness. It is a valuable resource.

Kallisti.
