What Buck are you carrying today?

Wife and I headed to the mountains in a few hours for a long weekend; haven't carried my little 303 Cadet in a while, so I'll have this in my pocket for the next four days. OH

I wish Buck would go back to the long pull on the blades. Much more aesthetically pleasing, in my opinion. Maybe with the new tooling.....?
Great looking 303.

My new 55.

This little thing seems to have found itself in my pocket almost every day since I bought it. I forget it is there quite often and it has only ended up in the wash once.

Stag 110 with a black oxide blade from C&C. I didn't have my newest 501 on me for the first time in a while. Tomorrow is another day and I'm sure it'll be with me...

Still in the mountains carrying my Buck 303; already used it this morning to open the plastic wrapped hotel soap, the package of my wife’s new Walmart shower cap, and to cut the tags off my new Carhartt pants. Pocketknives are handy and useful, if mundane, tools. OH

Slipped my 703 into my pocket earlier this morning.. Also made in 1999. The back-springs on this little pup opens and closes the blades so loud and solid I could never sneak up on prey while engaging same.

My trusty 704 Maverick (1996) somehow keeps finding it's way into my pockets! To me, the 500 & 700 series of Bucks are the perfect blend of traditional and "modern" folders. I love the traditional blades and wood scales (or maroon micarta that looks like rosewood). But I also love the nickel silver bolsters to give them a little more modern flair.

As a little social experiment, I carried a Buck 701 for a while and a Spuderco Para 3 for a while. Both knives are approximately the same size closed and have about the same size blades. When I took the Para 3 out, it got a lot of "Whoa, what's the knife for?!" types of looks. when I took the 701 out, I got lots of "Wow, that's a nice looking/pretty pocket knife you've got there!" types of comments. Funny how wood scales on a knife seem to have a "calming" effect on people.

Traditional is what sheeple will tolerate, otherwise its exactly as you say, with 'looks' and the 'comments'..
