What Buck are you carrying today?

Finally getting off to the woods for a deer hunt over the next two days. Sitting here browsing the forum while I check gear and repack my hunting backpack. I have two Buck Knives in the pack, my long-time favorite 118 Personal and a Two-dot 110 Folding Hunter I acquired in the last year at a collectibles mall. The 110 was completely dull on the last 1" of the tip-end of the blade. I worked it over pretty well with a stone Friday night and it is edged up to my satisfaction and ready to go to work now. OH

Good luck. Hopefully, you get to put both to work

My vicarious life:

Sitting in a blind in the U.P.. The heaters going, it's cold. A snow storm actually. Deer hunting.

" Man, maybe I should have shot that 6 point last night."

I watch the birds.
It's quiet.
Hmm, I once heard God made sure there were birds in the winter so man would maintain his sanity.
When you sit in the woods in winter.... that makes sense.

I cut my apple with my knife, and enjoy the day.

😎

Maybe I can make it back this year.
Thanks.

Today I used my trusty Buck 110 for the following:

o A little touch-up shaving on a couple of itchy patches on my face with stubble.
o Used the swedge on the clip point to scrape a ferrocerium rod to light the fluffed jute I used to to light the crumpled pharmacy bags I used to start the charcoal for the grill.
o Cut some delicious grilled sirloin into bite-size pieces.
o Carved a pumpkin into a spiffy jack o'lantern.

I hope you do make it back to your blind. I hope the birds are around you and a nice buck presents a good shot

Thanks.
It's like an old friend.
A constant in your life.
A good constant. I need to do research on public hunting grounds in Michigan. Have called it home for over a decade but work kept me on the road until this year. I need to find some public ground I can use my handguns on so I can get back out

I absolutely love the U.P. I’ve never hunting there and only have been up there twice but beautiful country.

First time was in Sept of 2010 with my 8 yo son at the time. We took a 3 day wilderness survival class and then a group camping trip with a bunch of folks from Bark River knives and the Wilderness Learning Center. It was a blast. We had every season in that short week. The first two days of the class rained nonstop and probably about mid 69’s. That Friday and Saturday in the 80’s. Sunday morning woke up to leave snd 4 inches of snow gad Fallen.

Went back in September 2018 forr red s motel trip with wife , son and youngest daughter. Absolutely loved seeing Lake Superior that time and eating some of the local fish.

Hoping to go up later in 2023 with my wife and youngest daughter again.

Sorry for the rambling but when I see a post about the U.P. I get excited.

Just to keep it 110 related I did take my stag AG on both trips.

(I posted the 110 because for some reason I thought I was in the 110 thread)
