What Buck are you carrying today?

Still sporting both the 2021 Buck 110 and a Buck 112 LT around the house. Yesterday when I went out, I left the 112 LT at home and had the 110 in my hoodie pocket. When I met my siblings for a post-Christmas lunch, the 110 got to destroy another tasty sirloin. I think a lot of people have never sliced a steak with a 110 or any other thin, hollow grind blade, but they're missing out. It's a pleasurable experience!

The same old mid-2000s 110 my brother found somewhere and gave to me. The blade was over-sharpened, the bolsters are banged up, the dymondwood is chipped in a few places. I did a ghetto-checkering job on the scales with a coping saw and triangle file, and thinned out and convexed the blade. I used It as a beater for a summer, scraping, carving, cutting, and even using it to dig clams at the beach, with the plan to retire it in favor of one or another of the multitude of 110s in various states of “used” that I’ve acquired over the past 15 years or so, but for whatever reason I still carry it either on my belt or in my pocket. I have a 110LT I got in August that I carry and use too, but that plain old 110 still sits in my pocket every day. The 110 (and a Vic recruit sometimes) pretty much fits all my needs.

My wife and I took a hike on a couple of trails in the Croatan National Forest today, had my Buck 345 Vantage clipped inside my pocket. Light and comfortable, you forget it is even there. OH

I just decided I'm going to visit my stack of SackUps and pick something nice..It's hard when you collect and have a lot of knives to use one of the pretty ones sometimes. Especially a 112 in a super steel. For so long anything fancy in S30V or S35VN or even D2 was so limited especially a drop point I felt guilty cutting something with it. Sorta like a muscle car collector using a big block six-pack Charger going to pick up some milk at the store..

Lol.
I drove a 440 Road Runner as a daily driver a few years back.
Until 5 mpg made me park it.

Never got a ticket in it either.
It was one of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned.

Knives are cheaper.😎

My cardiologist would likely have a heart attack if he knew I was messing around with sharp objects while on the blood thinners he prescribed. While I wait on the next heart procedure, I'll tote around my trusty old Elk Antler Buck 112, and search for some new carving gloves. If anyone has any recommendations, I'm all ears.

Here's my 7'-2" Timewaster, aka Paul Bunyan's Toothpick, down by the riverside... a place I wish to be right now. I don't get too technical with my woodcarving, but rest assured, I do enjoy the escape from reality now and then. Also note, this is all done by hand :)

This Juniper was a volunteer in my yard that got a bad case of Cedar Apple Rust, so I broke out the loppers and stripped the branches before leaving it to dry in place for a year or so. Anyway, the 112 on my hip and the old Redbone 303 Cadet in my pocket make for a good pair today.

TreelineUSA sells 6 sizes. Ansi cut resistance level 5. (The highest) Woodcraft also sells some, but fewer sizes, and higher price. There are probably other sources. Those are the two I know of.

O.B.
