What Buck are you carrying today?

The great 110 experiment continues..The new MaganCut spent 10 minutes getting flushed out with Dawn and hot water and the 111 needed some serious cleaning after a cheese ball encounter 5 days ago and then it didn't make it to the kitchen to be cleaned..The MaganCut gave me the worst bite in at least 7 years from any knife. Side of my thumb a inch a quarter long and close to a half inch deep. At least it blead so freely (and so much lol) I didn't feel the need to flush it out. 20230120_201307.jpg

I’ll be preoccupied with my new 110 Magnacut today. It’s cold and windy today so I won’t be getting out much. I’ve cleaned and oiled it so it’s smooth and crisp. It had some polishing compound in the action that made it stiff, then I’ll mink oil the sheath to get it nice and supple. It will be ready for action when it warms up a bit. 😆

Lee, I’ve been seeing that 55 all over the place. Looks like you’ve found a knife that pretty much covers your bases.
The 55 is one I’ve always thought was easy on the eyes…everything I like about the 110, but capable of being in your pocket all day without being a burden. I’ve had a couple in the past but the covers were dry looking and despite trying various oils and waxes, I just couldn’t make them “pop”. I thought I’d give a newer one with ebony a try, and am glad I did.

pjsjr after I took the picture I took a good look and agree! It has 'chattance' (sp?) like good Koa or Sedula (sp? again) ..It's not as pronounced on the other side. I might try a good wood oil or treatment to bring it out better. It's on temporary probation right now as it really bit me badly last night. But at least it was a clean cut! After using so many 112 Slims and lighter folders for the last few years I have to get used to the weight of a regular 110. Plus after using so many with Micarta and other textured handles it seems slippery and that is what led to the deep slice on my left thumb. With what seems now permanent carpal tunnel in my 'good' hand I will probably have to make sure I have a handle that is as nonslip as possible for a regular user. Rams horn or Jigged Buffalo horn with a rear swell maybe. Unless Buck makes a 112 with Magnacut this 110 will do. The weight will take the most getting use to..It seems so much heavier than the regular 112's and Slims I've been using.

I really should have gone to the VA in Gainesville for a few stitches but that is a minimum of a 6 hour ordeal. My son put a great bandage on and it stopped throbbing this afternoon so I'll get a fresh bandage on Sunday and see how it looks. It really IS a sharp 110 !! The worst I ever had was slightly less than a dime sized slab off a finger tip..That hurt every single time I touched something for a entire summer.
