What Buck are you carrying today?

This was actually from yesterday. I was clearing some trails in the woods around our home place. My new 124 was a great tool to have on my belt.

Took delivery of this Buck 110 Slim Select yesterday, along with this intriguing book.

In the last 3 years or so, I've purchased several Bucks, including their 117, 120 and 102 fixed blades in the most recent months, and a 119 a while back. And now, looking at this 110 Slim Select, I continue to be impressed by the edge grinds on all of them, all in Buck's standard 420HC. Great execution in FULLY FINISHING the edges to as crisp an apex as I've seen on any factory knife. So often, so many manufacturers always seem to stop a bit short in the edge finishing. These knives are rare among my own accumulation of knives over many years, in that I don't feel immediately compelled to alter the edges to my preference as soon as I receive them.

It's been many years since I've carried a thumb-studded blade, as I've generally preferred knives without them as a rule. But this is a solidly crafted knife, nicely slim and light. It'll be riding in my pocket for a while, I think.

Iron I always see your posts with your 112 as your carry, how do you carry though ? On and off over the last ten years or so I have belt carried one of my 110’s, or comparable, and have recently within the last couple years acquired a couple 112’s, but they don’t feel right belt carrying by comparison, and in my daily Dickies 847’s front pockets, don’t really feel right either.

In cooler months, I'm usually wearing heavy Riggs cargo work pants. The 112 rides in the right front cargo pocket. The pants are heavy enough that the knife doesn't flop around when walking. When wearing jeans though, or with the cargo shorts that I wear in the Summer, I just use the belt sheath. You get used to it after a while.

I have a 305 in my watch pocket, and my 112 riding in my back pocket today.

The 305 looks like it's an in-house model, but without a date code. I think that makes it a 1985, but I'd love to hear from some of our more knowledgeable members if I'm wrong. It has a single spring and three brass liners. What a sweet little knife!

I've got the same 305. Those 85 through early 90's in-house slippies are the gold standard, IMHO.
