what came first,Buck 110 or Puma game warden?

Time warp.

Waves of nostalgia for esteemed, but long departed, Buckaroos.

Thanks for reviving the old thread.

Hello, I asked that to Puma knives and they sent me this email:

PUMA folding knives with back-lock mechanism:

Folding knives with blade locks have been part of the PUMA product range for over 100 years. For your information, we have attached two images from our 1920 catalog to this message. Please excuse the poor image quality; the images are based solely on old photocopied material. Large-scale production of lockable models began towards the end of the 1950s with the famous PUMA hunting pocket knives (see attached image from the 1958 Frankonia catalog). Of particular note here is the "959 Universal Jagdtschenmesser nach Oberforstmeister Walter Frevert." Since then, pocket knives of all kinds with back-lock mechanisms have been part of the PUMA portfolio.

„Game Warden“ Model:

In 1965, our then US importer, Kurt Gutmann (see attached photo), proposed producing a folding knife with a back-locking clip-point blade, a brass handle, and exotic wood scales for the American market. In the same year, such a knife was developed in Solingen and first offered nationally and internationally in 1966 under the name "970 PUMA Plainman." In the late 1960s, the knife was briefly renamed "970 PUMA Planter," and in 1970, it was renamed again to the final name "970 PUMA Game Warden." The blades were made of very high-quality, edge-holding, and rust-proof German cutting steel ("Stainless Super Keen Cutting Steel"). Several models in various sizes were subsequently added: "Gentleman," "Cub," "Deer Hunter," and "Trail Boss."
I was reading some posts recently and they called the Game warden a knock off of the 110. I believe I had read that the 110 was patterned after the Puma at some time. Please set my memory straight,it is driving me crazy.
