What can I do better - Knifemaker's advice needed

That Yellow Mallee is sexy and the contrast in sap/heart wood is killre

I sold the piece in the photo before I found out how difficult a piece like that one is to find. Turns out the guy from Australia added it as a bonus for me and I sold it. I hope he doesn't think I was ungrateful. I was just ignorant. Turns out pieces like this come from old dead yellow mallee roots. He said it is a lot of work to dig out the roots of the old dead trees, then after a lot of trimming usually only gets 1 or 2 blocks from a good sized piece of root.

Out of curiosity, how much would you sell another one like that for...if you were to get another piece?

I would like to see some american wood such as Black Walnut,Hard Rock Maple and maby some interesting Hickory in large bowie 1-1/2" x 2" x 5-5 1/2" bowie blocks. Some nice hard, dry wood that doesn't need to be stabilized at a good price.

That piece was sold for $40. Afterwards I was told it is worth more than that and I am not likely to be able to get more except on rare occasions.

. I think that I prefer browsing through a large selection of different species and picking what I really like, rather than having catch a lucky break to be visiting the forums right after you've posted a bunch of stuff... Lots of Folks seem to have the same taste as I do when it comes to wood and I'm running just a step or two behind sometimes.

Same here
It makes it easier to find some more good stuff for combined shipment overseas

I'll add my vote for stabilization. I pay $20-$25 for stabilized maple blocks like the one in the pics

The size part is not a problem for me. You and others got me trained right about that from the beginning. My question to you Ed and any others, what would be a fair price for a stabilized maple block of this quality with the dimensions of about 6" x 2" x 1&1/4". I ask this just to get a benchmark of what you think is reasonable.

Should a block of the same material but lesser figure like this one sell for less? Or should there be a set price that encompasses all of a type and size stabilized block?

I am asking these and other questions because what makes sense to me is not always the same as what everybody else is thinking. The answers you guys give me will help me to become the sort of supplier that you guys want. Instead of what I may have mistakenly thought.
