What did ya carry today ?

Yesterday i went on a short dayhike and brought with me:

  • my RC-3
  • Swisstool X
  • LMF firesteel
  • some paracord
  • Bottle of water
  • mosquito repellent
  • Sea to Summit mosquito headnet
  • sun-hat
  • longsleeve shirt
  • gloves
  • cell phone
  • notebook plus pen

all was thrown in my Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II

I'd rather drive 8 hours with my "comfort items" than fly two hours...not to mention the time at the air port...without them.

Yeah, I agree. Unless I'm flying way up north or over to the west, I can actually save tax-payers money by renting a car and driving. You sacrifice a little time, but save you sanity, have more control on your route and gives you a bigger platform to carry a few more "comfort" items:D

I want to know how you fit that tree stump in your pocket.....:D

Sorry, didn't get out today. Rehabbing a back injury. Haven't been out all summer.

Decided to go for a little hike with the mutts this morning, and check out a new area for the upcoming elk season:

Here's what I took:

HPG Kit Bag
Garmin eTrex
Water
Bird food bar
Bear spray
BRKT 'Huntsman'
GEC 'Eureka Jack'

Oversight - not bringing a collapsible bowl and extra water for the dogs. The hike turned out to be drier and hotter than expected, and I had to turn around a little earlier than planned for fearing of having to carry two 60lb dogs out...

Well, as always I have my Smith & Wesson Hameland Security knife and in my other pocket my 2&1/2" Buck folder with pocket clip. But I've added another Buck folder with a 2" lock back blade. So, this is what I carry now on a daily basis, unless I go into Greenville City. They have a new ordinance that states if ya have a knife with a blafe length of more than 3" ya in violation and ya will be arrested and fined. Of course ya loose your knife in the process. I've figured if it's about 2&1/2" then I'm safe unless they got one of them short measuring sticks.

I'm at work tonight, and since I live in an urban jungle, I carry my Izula II in my right side pocket (cargo shorts are da bomb!), my Vic farmer in my left pocket, I have a kershaw skyline in the front pocket of my maxped jumbo edc, and a cold steel roach belly inside the main compartment. As well, I pack a ka-bar hobo tool in my lunch box. Love my wife, she grilled rib eyes while I slept and I had an excellent dinner :)
