Actually didn't work, wait for a couple hours expecting something awesome but it wasn't at all, I guess I have to try a different method next time.
Generally patinas happen with a little oxygen (for the oxidation that makes the patina) - if you've ever painted mustard onto a blade, you can see this. Under the mustard, very little to no coloring, but at the edge of the mustard, great color. Maybe try thin slices of pineapple just laid on the blade, let sit for a while then peel off to leave the pattern of the fruit. Got some excellent bit of color on my T.M. Hunt Magua today cutting into some rambutans. Dyed the edge of the blade a deep fuschia, kinda like beets.
Grain of salt, tho - I'm certainly no expert.
