well I know a lot of people wonder but I'm curious what knives do/did you carry when you served, in country or garrison? also what were your perspective mos's?

for me I carry my Emerson cqc 7 and I keep my Leatherman wave on my kit and I'm and 11c (mortar man)

I use my leatherman all the time mainly for screws on misc. things like the Kevlar or the sight on my rifle the sight on the mortar and I use my emerson for general cutting tasks like card board zip ties fabric along with the fact that I let ppl who don't have a knife on them use it and I've seen things that would make most knife ppl cringe like scraping carbon off the bold and firing pin of their rifle and prying staples and nails out and so on

Cold Steel Recon 1 Tanto, Leatherman Wave and Buck Vantage Pro.

Leatherman was the most useful. It's very unlikely a knife is used against the enemy, even in the military (a whole lot of mall ninjas in the military too, just like anywhere). Utility is the main purpose.

I was issued about 4 Gerbers multi tools, carried a Spyderco Endura until I lost it, and a Microtech Troodon after that, which I still have. I was a 19D.

I use a Leatherman Mut (had a SOG issued multi tool but it was stolen), Fairly and Hoback fixed blades, and a variety of folders depending on what im doing. PM2 or spyderco SALT Saver see the most use as users.
Custom folders are used when in service dress.

Kabar USMC combat knife and a Buck 110. I was 0311 (infantry) USMC! I was in almost 30 years ago. I got out and worked Law Enforcement for 24 years till I retired. I found the same comradely on my SWAT team that I had in the Corps. The guy's I worked with were first rate just like my brothers I served with in the Corps!!!

I honestly never carried just a knife while I served in the Army in 1/41 Infantry but I did have my Gerber Multitool on me everyday and I still have that same multitool to this day. It's about 13 or so years old now and still works as good as the day it was gifted to me by my dad for Christmas back in 2000.

its awesome to see how many military guys and gals there really are one this page I really like all the knives all the knives y'all carry

I was in the Air Force 3e052 power production from 91-99
I was issued a leatherman super tool and a Gerber Gator. I still have the same Super tool.
When deployed to Haiti. A Fast Company Marine gave me a Strider SMF for getting them a power generator, so I carried the hell out that knife. I had never heard of Strider until then.

U.S. Navy, Aviation Boatswain's Mate, Launch & Recovery Tech. Most of us carried Swiss Army Knives; I carried a Victorinox Alox model, I think it was a Soldier. Didn't use it much, since the job we did was very technical and we had toolboxes in every space. I'd wanted a Leatherman PST, but the Vic Alox models were more common at the time.

I was 11B (Light infantry) 11H (anti tank infantry/TOW gunner) I started out with a Leather Man and then went to a Gerber multi tool, I made the switch because I could open the Gerber one handed. also cared a Gerber Gator, again one handed opening and it was a serrated in the back with a smooth edge in the front. In the field I added an old timer out fitter knife (141OT) to my web gear. We wear issued bayonets but the only time it came out of the sheath was to cut constatena wire and to wipe down at weapons turn in.

I dam near built a humvee with my multi tool our "gun" system was truck mounted and I used every part of that tool between field expedient repairs, and steeling parts from the headquarters trucks (those ass holes got parts ant time they, wanted but I got chewed out regardless if our parts wear back ordered). The gator mostly cut 550, opened MRE's and that sort of thing. The old timer cut saplings for cammo, and did every thing the gator did when I could get to it first. We wore TA-50 web gear with suspenders instead of the molle gear so it was hard to get to anything that was not hung on one pistol belt.

When wear you in Hattie? I was in "Porta Potty" or um Port a Prince 95-96 with the 1/2 ACR

Army Engineers, 51B20, 28 May 1961 to 15 February 1972. Did construction in odd places. Carried the standard issue MLK designated scout knife for a couple years, then a SAK replaced it and then a Buck 301 stockman. Never wore a sheath knife as it interfered with wearing a tool belt. We were basically a construction site where ever we went. A pocket knife was all that was needed. We had our P-38's for opening the C-rations, so the SAK got put away.

TrimTrio purchased at the PX, Ft.Leonard Wood, MO - a 3 piece combination knife, nail file and nail cleaner...MP, 56-59. Did have a bayonet in the arms room with assigned M1, graduated to a 1911 and no longer required the M1/ bayonet but kept the TrimTrio which worked well for its intended purposes.

Blade wasn't quite as sharp as a scalpel but almost.

Best.
