What did you miitary guys carry?

I was a 2e251 '01-'07 carried my 3550 and 722, stripped wire, pried panels and random things around the shop.

I was was in the Navy form 69 to 73 and I carried a large case folding hunter. Never did too much with it and still have it laying around some place.

I carried a Benchmade Osborne (I think the 940 back when it was 154cm steel) and a USN MK1 on my kit, when I was a (0352). I carried a Eickhorn Pohl One and a CRKT Hissatsu or a Pohl Force Hornet XL on my kit (depending on my load out) when I was an (11B) .

Started as 11M (Mechanised infantry) and then was converted to 11B (same blue cord either way. ;) ) and I carried a Gerber Gator in garrison and when out in the field I would carry the M9 Bayonet.

USMC - 82-86

USMC K-Bar most of the time, Infantry, N.B.C. Weapons Specialist, Weapons Specialist.

Most of the time I carried a ZDP Endura, but I also had a Gerber Multi Tool, a Hissatsu, and a small Kabar on my gear. The Endura got the brunt of the work, which mostly consisted of cutting open boxes, but the Kabar and Gerber were useful as well. The Hissatsu, not so much. I was a 97E/35M (HUMINT Collector) and spent most of my days when I was deployed outside the wire.

I was issued a Camilus electricians knife one spear blade and one locking common screwdriver/straight edged blade. It was about as sharp as a soupspoon.

I carried a leatherman, gerber gator and cqc7 or AFCK. Was an Artillery officer. Used the leatherman the most.

Watch. Not my vid, and I am not advertising for Justin King (I don't even own any of his knives), but this guy really goes into detail about what the modern soldier does and does not need on deployment.

U.S. Navy, Aviation Boatswain's Mate, Launch & Recovery Tech. Most of us carried Swiss Army Knives; I carried a Victorinox Alox model, I think it was a Soldier. Didn't use it much, since the job we did was very technical and we had toolboxes in every space. I'd wanted a Leatherman PST, but the Vic Alox models were more common at the time.

Hey thats what i am going in for! How did you like the job? Its ABH i believe.

In my day, we carried Gerbers bought at the PX. But in the military I was more into guns than knives. Go figure.

A shift from the norm......

USMC 3311/3381, '75-'79. I carried a full set of Wustof Le Cordon Bleu series, as well as a variety of hand forged Japanese blades I picked up in Okinawa. I also carried a Kabar USMC that was given to me by a SEAL team while on a Med cruise.

I carried a small pocket folder. Started with Case. Ended with Boker. Most carried some kind of multitool. In the infantry in the 101st 30 years ago, we didn't carry belt knives other than the issue bayonet. A buddy lost my Case Sod Buster Jr. in some river muck in Cambodia in 1992. Only knife I've ever lost.
