What did you use your EDC knife for today?

I've been carrying a folder daily for about six years now. I do believe that it's much better to have and not need it than to need it and not have it, but it is sad that my life style (living in the city, working in an office, etc) doesn't gift me with lots of opportunities to use my EDC blades.

I do cherish these opportunities to the most. Every time I open an envelope it's a party. Every package I receive in the mail (mostly new knives) brings me joy. I even changed some habits in order to justify my blades. For instance, I now cut bananas before I eat them and started using pencils so I will have the chance to sharpen them.

I need help! I need more opportunities to use my knives! I know, right? Talk about modern men problems...

I've seen threads like this before, but maybe times have changed and people use their blades for more stuff. So, what did you use your EDC knife for today? With pics, if possible.

Well, I sharpened a pencil this morning in the office. I also looked for an old pencil in my daughters bedroom so I could check for sharpness.

Wore mine (as always) on the way into work. All I used it for today was to cut a few threads of my uniform. Then left it in the car as we can't bring blades on to the airport where I work.

Carried my 0561 to work and then carried my Izula when I went out after work. Used the 0561 to open a package at work, and the Izula to open a home brew package that came in the mail. It was a good day.

I'm the go to guy at work to cut oranges, apples, mangos, and any other fruit. I open all the packages. I'm also the designated person to defend us against an attacker apparently. To that I tell my coworkers that a knife is a tool so it would be no different than defending myself with a stapler.

lol and you're rocking a rockstead. I can imagine the itch to pull that out and slice something. That's why I always appreciated balisongs, you're idle time with the knife is well spent flipping it.

Today I didn't use my knife for anything...

Took some pictures of my desk toy, though.

Took this picture last week...use my knife everyday at work and use it for everything. Cutting, prying, scraping, stripping, chopping, basically anything that presents itself and isn't too far fetched...

To test the heat treat on a knife I'm making...

Not much, here, opened a snack for my stepdaughter. I'll have plenty of cardboard waiting for me once I'm hale and hearty once again.

Cut some zipties to do a quick-and-dirty repair on my dog's kennel (thunderstorm + separation anxiety = destroyed crate and an eaten wireless keyboard), opened some packages, shaved off some plastic trim, cleaned up my cuticles, cut some nylon strapping to remove a bit of attached hardware... That's actually a compilation of today and yesterday, but I spent most of today with my dog so my knives saw a lot less use than usual.

The only thing I did with my EDC today was cut down some spiders hanging off their webs in my brothers garage....ya, I know, not a very exciting day....

I cut the insane amount of tape that was holding the bags on the outside of the air conditioner sleeve (had to withstand the storms of winter...of which there weren't many this time around).
Also opened a box of cane making supplies that showed up today.

And, really, is it even a "EDC knife" task if you could have accomplished the same goal just as well with a twig? :D

(I could also be underestimating the size and durability of these webs!)

I killed a man.

Alright, I cut the manufacturer's tag off of a little pink stuffed bunny for my daughter this morning before leaving for the office.

Opened a new knife delivery package, then used the new one to cut my finger. I call that a solid day.

Great. What knife did you get and which knife did you use to open the package?

Picked up the Spyderco BBS Exclusive blue Domino off the forums earlier this week and opened it with my blurple PM2 (which I also recently picked up off the forums). You guys are evil and ruining my wallet!!!!!

Hmmm... well, not exactly my EDC, since I didn't carry it with me, but this morning I did cut down a cardboard box into nice flat sections that will fit in the recycling bin. I used a ZT 0566. Yes, I could also have used the Stanley utility knife that was in the kitchen drawer. But where's the fun in that?
