I'm a machinist, well maybe not a good one after today.
I had a part pull out of the vise and the drill try to drill the, now higher up, part. The drill collet ran into the part and loaded up with aluminum. The aluminum was basically welded into the collett.
Colletts are things which hold drills which have lots of "splits" in them so they tighten up on the drill when you tighten the holder. They are expensive and I was not a happy camper and wanted to fix it and not weasel up to my boss and tell him I had screwed it up.
I took out my new (to me) Case sodbuster, spread the collet with a punch and, lightly tapping the knife with a hammer got all the metal out of the splits. The knife survived with a few small chips in the blade which easily sharpened out. This is not every day use for me, but it happens.
I didn't know if I wanted to post this here, or in the "how did you last abuse your EDC" thread.
That' why I won't carry my Queen to work, although their Country Cousin sodbuster is looking good.
