What do guys think?

Thanks slipperyfish I am going to skip the mtech. They look cool but are a crap knife. I guess you get what you pay for. Lol. The Kershaws seam to be a good start on knifes and for what I do in my job. Thanks. If I can find a good kershaw for a price I can afford I will get it and post pics and a review of what I like/don't like. I am thinking the shuffle is the right size for me.

If you work as a tech and are in and out of schools I would go the more traditional route with a Swiss army or Case knife.

I really like the tactical look but want something small and the kershaw shuffle II looked to be small for me to handle and to keep with me in and out of schools. What do you think of that one Eric@DLT?

I haven't handled the shuffle II but have a shuffle sitting in front of me. For an inexpensive liner lock knife I think it's pretty good. The choil allows me to get a full grip on the knife and the deep carry clip only leaves a little bit of the backspacer showing. It looks like the II is a tip down carry but does sit pretty deep as well. For less than $20 I'd take that all day long over an mtech. I might still consider a second, more traditional knife that won't get you the bad looks if you need to use it in a school or other location that isn't as open to seeing black coated "tactical looking" knives.

Is a case knife one to be used or is it mainly used to collect instead of using it out in the field? What do you think? I am just trying to find a good knife that has a good build clip or a pouch to keep it in so I don't loose it. Do you think the kershaw shuffle is something that would work for me or should I try and look at a cheaper case knife? I really like the look of the kershaw shuffle 2 in the tan. That's what drew me to that knife. I know I ask alot of questions it's just that I am new to collecting/use other knifes besides case and I am trying to find out what's the best knife for cheaper that is not going to fall apart on me when using it and the shuffle 2 looks awesome but i don't know much about them.

Plenty of people use and abuse case knives. I would use one in an instant and not worry about it. Most of them are clipless but there are pouches available.

I think a shuffle or shuffle 2 would be a fine knife for simple cutting tasks you would need it for and it's at a price that doesn't break the bank. It's only the perception the knife may get from non-knife or anti-knife people that I worry about in the areas you may be working. If you don't think that is a concern then give the shuffle a try, it would be a good place to start.

M-Tech knives are definitely not junk modern folders for being $8-$14 as probably the most awful brands I could think of would be Maxam or Frost Cutlery's offerings. Those brands today are still at what China's quality level was like back in the early 90's.An in-law gave me an M-Tech one year as a Christmas present (kind of insulting versus what I spend on them),we don't exchange gifts anymore. It was durable, the assisted opening worked fine,lock-up was good. The blade steel was alright-sharpened quick but dulled quick also.It cuts, sharpens, and fights rust...steel nothing worth praising as it was most likely hardened in the early 50's in Rockwell hardness...seemed at par with Victorinox's blade steel.I could always spend more on a Gerber knife and feel less satisfied versus an M-Tech.

Anyone know any think about the mtech brand of knifed? I saw one in amazon I like and wanted to see if anyone had used this brand before. This would be something I carry for work. I work as a tech and I fix computers and such and wanted a stylish but a good knife to carry with me. What do you think?

MTECH USA BALLISTICS Assist Folding Knife with Silver Half-Serrated Blade & Silver/Gold Handle, 4.5" [Link to live auction removed]

Is it worth it or should I save for something better?

For +/- $28 you can get an Ontario Rat which is a killer knife for the money. It's not the best out there or anything but it's hard to beat for the less than $30 range of knives.
