How do you keep your scales on your SAK's so nice and shiney?

I don't know about Tony but me, I take as many pictures as I can while they are new because once they start getting tossed in the pocket with loose change, phones, and other tools, they are done. My Swiss Champ, Hiker, and OHT look like hell now. Glad I got some half descent pics when they were purdy!:D

EDC - I just about always carry a Swiss Army Cadet model, very thin with metal handles. Covers almost all daily cutting chores. I sometimes swap out for a Spyderco Delica with Emerson opener or Boker Subcom, but I usually always end up back to the SAK Cadet.

I will likely add an Izula when wearing cargo pants.

Hiking, Camping - civilian. Will likely be using my Izula for this, but its going to be a replacement to a Buck Strider Military Folder.
Junglas kept with gear or in pack depending on situation.

Field Ops - military. I'll be getting a ESEE 3MIL or 4 for this. Currently using the Buck Strider. Junglas in pack depending on operation.

Travel: Bladeless Leatherman Fuse.

EDC: Izula or BRKT Mini Canadian and a spyderco native 4 and a leatherman charge

Hiking: Vic 1 hand trekker or camper, ESEE 3 or 4 or HRLM and leatherman charge

Camping: Vic 1 hand trekker or camper, ESEE 4 or 6 or Bravo 1 or RMD and Hoonglas or lite

My EDC. Everyday no matter what I'm wearing the SAK and Izula are with me.

I have been carrying the Swiss Army Knive everyday for about 20 years. I don't know what I would do without it so I have had a new one in the drawer for about 10 years, just in case I lose this one :D

My sister-in-law Amy gave it to me for Christmas so I call it my Swiss AMY knife :D

When I go to the woods I add my RC-4 to the bunch.

The only problem I have with using a Katana as an EDC is that the guard keeps getting caught on my pockets when it's time to be used

I always wondered how Duncan McLeod of the Clan McLeod would be wearing jeans and a fairly close-fitting t-shirt and whip that thing outta nowhere.

How do you keep your scales on your SAK's so nice and shiney?

not sure who this was directed too but if it was me
My SAK rides in my right pocket solo,I am a lefty so most junk in left pocket ,LM & Izula are belt carry, my SAK has nicks and scratches just from bumping into my LED light other than that just lint is my sak worse pocket buddy :D

edc fixed: hest
edc work folder: rat1 or blurS30v
weekend:kershaw random task
camping:esee5
hunting: kershaw elk skinner 2 or my old buck 121

also carry daily swiss army classic, 1gb flash drive, streamlight microstream or fenix pd20, leatherman micra & iphone...sometimes more...

edc: ESEE-6, Leatherman charge tti, Benchmade Griptilian, Izula on neck. In the woods hiking or camping same with Bahco Laplander and soon ESEE Junglas. I actually feel weird if I am not weighed down by sharpened steel.

For EDC, my newly acquired Izula has filled that role. Before that it was a Benchmade Mini-Griptillian. Good all around folder, but I wanted a fixed blade and the Izula has yet to stop amazing me...it's just so darn versitile.

For hiking or just all around use...sorta the everyman knife...I'll take my ESEE-4. I like the blade thickness. It's more than tough enough to do some hard work, but it's still designed in such a fashion that you can really do some fine work with it as well. Skinning, batoning, cutting, slicing, light chopping, this knife can do it all. Ron Popeil wishes this was his "miracle blade." *someone will get that obscure reference..lol*

For camping...I'd go with my Becker BK2 for now...but now that I've been bit by the ESEE bug, it's probably going to get replaced by the ESEE-5 sometime soon. The BK2 really is a good knife, no question. But the ESEE-5 just seems a little nicer somehow. Must get one.

EDC - Izula, Boker Whittler, Vic Classic, Leatherman wave.
Hiking - Izula, Grohmann Canadian belt knife, Fallkniven F1
Camping - Izula, Grohmann Canadian Belt knife, fallkniven F1, ESEE 6
Car - Sog Seal Pup
Travel - Izula, Leatherman wave, Fallkniven F1, Boker Whittler

EDC: Benchmade Mini Bone Collector, Buck 303, and Victorinox alox Cadet.

At Work: Benchmade Griptilian comboedge, Vic alox Cadet, and a Gerber multi tool in my bag.

Hiking: ESEE Izula, and the above EDC

My EDC usually stays with me, no matter what the conditions or where I'm going, including hiking. They don't take up a lot of space and I always know where they are. Looking at a 3 or possibly a 4 for more hardcore hiking/ outdoors activities.

I'm waiting for the clips to be released for the izula so that I can start carrying it as part of my EDC. Not sure if I'll remove one of the other knives from the rotation; we'll see how it goes.

And of course, once the izula folder is released, it will be my constant EDC.

I almost always carry a Victorinox Hunter. Only exception is when traveling by commercial air. I also usually have another folder, and my current favorite for this sort of thing is the Benchmade Mini-Barrage.

I usually carry a Benchmade Rant when walking in the woods or ATVing etc. I recently obtained an ESEE-3 MIL for this sort of thing.

I have a Buck Omni-Hunter 12PT fixed-blade and Benchmade fixed Boning knife for hunting duties.

For work I also carry a Leatherman Wave multi-tool.

EDC- Izula or Murray Carter Necker

Hiking- Izula + Fehrman Last Chance

Camping- Izula + Junglas or Last Chance, depending on the terrain, needs, etc.

My knife selection seems to rotate between different combinations. I find that when I am woods bumming, then this is the selection I take most often:

When I am hunting, I like these:

For EDC, I always have my Vic huntsman, OHT or Leatherman Wave.

As a Search and Rescue operator I survive by knife. Since discovering ESEE I live with my RC 4 attached to me everywhere I go in the bush.

It's amazing for primitive and survival bushcraft. Indestructable and maintains an amazing edge.
