What do you actually do with your knife?

I use 'em for normal everyday cutting tasks. My edc is a large Classic wood inlaid Sebbie and a Camillus EDC. My fulltime job is as a 7th grade science teacher and part-time as a Sporting Goods ass. at the local Super Wal-Mart!

I did use my Sebbie to partially dissect Mr.frog this year :D  Even let my most resposible student, Natalie, use it to finish up her frog. Course she thought she was so:cool: as did the other kids!

Mostly use them for cutting tape, paper, and cardboard at Wally World. The sebbie has the new S30V steel and slices through anything I've cut like a scapel!:D :D

You know, I do open some boxes and some letters and stuff. I do have some of the most fancy letter openers around! You should see me swing out my Tachyon to open a slit open an envelope! :D

This AM my BM350 cut some branches off the bush out the front door. Then later it took the outer cover off a wire so I could put a plug on it. I often open packages, and cut rubber and vinyl hoses with my 'big' knife.

I've even had my Gerber Applegate Covert out at a school or three!!! (and ain't been locked up yet!)

Of course the main reason I carry a 'big' knife is in the unlikely event that it would do me a bit of good in a self defense scenario!

Hello Clarice....................:D

Forgot to mention fixed blades, I have a Cold Steel Trailmaster that I use as a camping knife, and a Kukuri that clears the brush on the paintball field.

One of them keeps my paper money from getting loose in my pocket. The other one is clipped to my pocket and is mainly a conversation starter with other people who have a clip on their pocket.

Mostly the cutting chores involve boxes from the mail. Have to open those knife boxes somehow. The rest comes down to being prepared, like the boyscouts say.

Today I used my Strider AR to open a paint can, cut plastic, clean my nails, scrape bumps off a wall and sever some paracord. This is a typical day for me. I also used one of my own knives to peel up a corner of wallpaper in front of a customer while doing an estimate this morning. I tend to use smaller knives in front of the general public so as not to cause panic.

Mostly I skin packages and mail with my knife. I also spend a lot of time reading about them, looking at them, sharpening them, and ordering them. Waiting for a knife to arrive also seems to occupy me quite a bit. Right now I'm waiting for the Vietnam Tactical Tomahawk that I ordered from ATC at Blade show last Saturday; it seems like it has been a month already ;).

But mainly my knife gives me a good reason to hang around with a fine bunch of my like-minded brothers and sisters at BladeForums :D.

I often use them to open packages (that usually contain more knives). I also use them to prepare and eat food, and I enjoy tossing and twirling my balisongs.

Good answer Biohazard.
Here's an example of exactly which i can with with such a simple knifeVideo. Also cutting whatever gets in my way.

How many ways can you open your folder:p

Sleep with it! If a knife is useful enough that I can't go without it during the day, then why go without it at night? I have these thoughts that I might get woke up during the night cuz the house is on fire and so I go running off and didn't have time to think about grabbing a knife, and then I need it once it's too late.

Therefore, I sleep with a Benchmade Ascent clipped to my pajama bottoms, or shorts as I sleep.

Now I just need to save up for a good Talonite neck knife to wear in the shower!

This is embarassing, but once I slipped in the shower and fell into the curtain. I got tangled up in it for a second, but didn't need to cut my way out. You never know!!

At work:
Cardboard, rope and cable ties.
At home:
Fruit, meat, packages, more cardboard, some branch trimming.
Nothing too crazy or extreme, but that blade is always handy.

Frag; did you ever see "Final Destination?" In it, a young man is taking a shower, slips, and gets strangled by a cord. (Some sort of a clothesline, I think...) He could have easily gotten free with the tiniest blade, but nooooo....he was probably one of those "sheeple" who have this odd disdain for weapons... :barf:

Anyway, it's an entertaining flick. Watch it, and I guarantee you won't take a shower again 'till you get a neck knife!!! :D

Be careful!!!:p

Arokiem:

I've seen some of your other videos [with BM-42] or similar knife.

Your part magician, and part artist

I would be scared as all heII to do that with a tachyon.

For now I muddle through with a variety of cheaper balis. Flippin balis with hands that resemble lobster claws...:)

I use knives everyday ( or night, as it turns out often) fixing odd/end problems in two apt buildings. Yesterday I stripped wires, shaved some wood off an old beam to find clean wood for fastener spots, cut duct tape and electrical tape, i spread caulk into bathroom crevice, and similar activities. Thats just my knife blades, it doesn't include other tools, multitools, ect.

You mean...gasp!...some people actually use their knives for cutting things?

Seriously, knives are more of a plaything for me. I guess I'm just an accumulator of toy things. However, there are a few knives that I use occasionally.

I would not be alive today if it weren't for knives. How long do you think a human can live without a knife to open bags of chips and jerky treats? And, yes, sometimes it takes a Cuda Maxx to do that job. ;)
