What do you consider "Perfect" knives?

Thomas... you deserve a hug man, lol... that's great.

Anyways... I'd take the Kershaw S30V Spec Bump and Leek 2006 models. Both awesome in design and function (based on previous models), and the assisted open is just fantastic!

My idea of the perfect knife: 1) CRK Sebenza 2) Rick Hinderer Firetac 2) Combat Elite RRF, are ALL examples of the perfect knife. (And that I currently own.)

I would have to say my Benchmade mini AFCK. I bought this knife new in 1994 when I was still a senior in high school. It was my first Benchmade and my first really nice knife. Its perfect for me because it has always been there when I needed it. It has rode in my pocket for many a mile, fits my hand great, and flicks out smoother than greased butter. Some people get down on ATS-34 steel, but mine has always kept a nice edge and usually only needs touched up every once in a while. I really love this knife and wouldn't part with it for the world.

Thomas is correct in regards to it being the knife on hand (or in hand, whatever).

I find my perfect knife has a handle that indexes well, like the AFCK. The handle must be long enough to allow me to use my whole hand to control it.

I like a blade with some recurve, like the 710. The blade should be of good metal and not too thick or thin. I prefer an approximately 4-inch blade. Don't need a prybar or razor blade.

A reliable lock is good. I can live without it, but I gave up slip-joints. Axis- and frame-locks I trust, some liner-locks are trustworthy also.

Currently, the AFCK/TSEK and Military meet the requirements for me.

1. Microtech lcc
2. Combat Elite RRF
3. MOD Mark II

Two out of three - well tested veterans and one reasonably new

I like the Griptilian but I wish it had G10 scales.

I like the 707 but I wish it were 1/4" larger with G10 scales.

I like the Sebenza but I don't like it's slick metal handles.

I love the Delica but I alsos wish it were in G10.

I guess maybe the perfect knife could be the old Spyderco C05 Standard. Came in ATS-55 with G10 scales and about a 3" blade. Yummy. :)

I can only comment on knives I've owned or own , so I'll go with a Spyderco Rookie or a Benchmade Mini Stryker. They're about the same size and make good all-purpose knives for EDC.

Spyderco Military, Spyderco Calypso jr., Spyderco Endura, Benchmade AFCK d2, Benchmade mini AFCK, Camillus Heat, Microtech SOCOM, Outdoor Edge Paragee (except for thumbstuds), Cold Steel Master Hunter.

PERFECT knife? Simple.

Find an old guy who's seen the world (twice) and been around the block (100 times). A guy who WORKED for a living, a guy who has also played hard, namely hunting, fishing, hiking and the like. Now, watch and wait for him to kneel down to help his grandson fix a toy (or maybe make a slingshot the old-fashioned way, with a Y stick and some rubber from an innertube). At some point, Grandad will slide his hand down into the pocket of his pants and draw out a pocketknife, one he's toted as long as anyone who knows him can remember. It might have one blade, maybe two or even three. The bone handle will be worn smooth. The blades patined to a dark, even gray. The joints well oiled and the edge keen. He'll use it as if it's an extension of his own hand. The grandson, meanwhile, will marvel silently, praying to someday own one like it for his own.

THAT, my friends, is the perfect knife!

Well, I myself still can not find a better knife than the Benchmade 710. In 154cm steel, I can easily take care of it myself, and chipping is not an issue like it is on my zdp/cpm knives. It holds a respectable edge. It fits my hand perfectly.
Makes me a little pissed off that BM has switched it to D2. I never liked Benchmade's D2.
Cest La Vie, right?
I'll just have to keep sharpening it myself. No complaints here.

in a production i would say the spyderco ATR Ti, in a custom for me anyway a emerson CQC6 is pretty close, '8 too.
