What do you cut your steak with?

this was part of another thread, but I thought it appropriate:

Nothing wrong with using a different knife, but I usually lean on steak knives for steak duty. I occasionally use camp knives in the kitchen to get a better feel for them, but a really good kitchen knife will invariably outperform them by such a wide margin that the novelty usually wears off pretty quickly for me.

Same knife I use for almost everything else, CQC7, it's easily stripped & cleaned so I don't worry to much about stuff getting in the pivot.

...as in fixed blades; street vernacular, also used to describe single speed/fixed gear bicycles; you must be new to knives.

Yep, I'm totally new to knives...barely have any...not even sure why I'm here...;)

I knew what it meant; it sounds odd.
Also, "street vernacular"? Really?
Seriously dude, calling a fixed blade a "fixie" is about as far from "street" as one can be without leaving the planet.

My primary folders are Columbia River, so I tend to forget that you can take normal folders apart. Taking apart a CRKT M16 is a half hour job, minimum.

Whatever you say DUDE:rolleyes:

Lmao, as much as I enjoy watching people fight you guys should try to tone down before the almighty mods have to step in

I got mine for 15 bucks. You cant even get a spork for that price at REI. Even a disposable utensil at REI is 5000 dollars, and if you want a reusable... you'll have to use your home as collateral.

I've used whatever primary folder I was carrying at the time if the restaurant's steak-saw was too dull for service. I'm usually careful to only use as much of the blade as I need so I don't get any food material in the pivot. A quick cleaning of the blade afterwards, and back in the pocket it goes. My primary folders tend to be 3.5 inches or more, so it's never been an issue.

Funny you mention this. On the TV show Battlestar Galactica, there was an episode where a CRKT M21 was used as a steak knife.
