I patrol an Army owned installation full time and make knifes part time. I am so bent on getting totally broke that I plan on making knives full time when I retire in a few years. I am a state licensed investigator but have pretty much given that up. I'ts much more enjoyable making knives and tormenting IG.

At least you didn't spend 31 years as a student! Talk about Animal House! What's that line from Better Off Dead? "Listen, I've been in high school for 6 years. I'm no dummy..." :D

Put those freeloaders to work! I'd take a live-in sweatshop over a fan club any day of the week! The 8 year old can do folders, get the 4 year old doing fixed blades and the 2 year old can clean up.

:D Retired Kentucky State Police Lt. with a total of 24 years service. Now work about six months of the year as a Pipefitter/Welder and the rest of the time making knives and honeydew jobs.

I too am going broke trying to make knives.
If you think about it, the guys who make tools (ROB! ) for the knifemakers are the only guys making money in this BIDNESS!

OOPS, I forgot Brian Goode.
He has a armored truck backing up to his house once a week also! :p

Even though I am only 31 I have done more different things (realty business, import/export business, reatil store, lots of other stuff) and got broke...hu-hummm got a lot of experience on most of them, so I figured out I´d do well in knifemaking :D ! I have given up a couple times but I don´t think I´ll ever give up from knifemaking again - is there anything better than burnt fingers and that black stuff coming out of your nose after all?

I am a Respiratory Therapist, as in working in the hospital part time. The other part is spent at home with the muchikins 2yo and 6yo. I have done this for 15years. Before this I was a photographer, a woodworker, and did trace metal analysis for the feds.
I have forged 6 knives so far and they are what my wife calls early protoman knives and what I have learned forging knives is to never pet a burning dog.
Cheers Ron.
