Recommendation? What do you do with the fancy boxes your knives come in?

All boxes go in the burn pile - including all of the gun boxes. I used to keep them on a shelf and one day I said "this is stupid". The only boxes I save are for delicate electronic gear - like turntables.

I keep all of mine in a plastic tote up in the attic so they are out of the way but I can get one easily if I am trying to sell something.

Since I have many knives of all sorts and rotate them, I keep the boxes/tubes to store them in when not in use. For me, it’s easier to stack boxes than knives.

I used to throw away gun boxes until one day I went to sell a rifle and the store owner told me that he would give me an extra $100 if I had the box...

Old boxes are so cool and definitely worth collecting. 🤠
Maybe some day our GEC tubes will be worth something. ;)

I found a good way is to stuff them into various draws around the house along with camera boxes and the like.

When you cant open the draw as its stuck fast your mission is completed.

If you do go to sell something you swore you would never sell,it is Murphys law you will only find the box 2 months after you sold the item anyway.

Until 2018, I was not interested in what happened to boxes. Some I kept, but couldn't find today if I tried, some got destroyed, some . . . who knows? I didn't care much about boxes because the idea of selling one of my treasures was not even a fleeting whisper of a though in my noggin. Then in 2018 I got laid off and over the course of two years struggling to secure full time employment, selling stuff became a reality. Now I keep boxes for knives that may have value if I need to sell them.

I keep them all. I'm paranoid that if I need to sell a knife I'll need the original box in order to close the deal. ;)

Heres some of them..

Now all I simply need to do is write a comprehensive instruction leaflet on how to match the knives their correct tubes or boxes.....That will be issued to the inheritor of my collection from my cold dead hands.

Jon, I’m certain that if you left you collection to a porch regular a instruction leaflet would not be needed. I humbly volunteer to sort out this issue. Of course with your immediate family in mind. Though a few choice ones might mysteriously disappear. 😉

I keep all boxes of anything remotely collectible, even if I do not have the intention at that moment of ever selling it. I also keep all boxes of electronics gear.

Some old boxes are worth collecting, especially for the art, but I keep a lot of new ones also. View attachment 1663976View attachment 1663977
Thank goodness that whomever had the foresight to save those boxes you show here, a bit of history preserved by someone some might consider a hoarder. Funny how it's the things we throw away that become desired artifacts way later down the road when most of the related artifacts are long sitting in land fills...
