What do you guys think of my first?

"So, all in all Im kinda happy with how it came out, like I said it still needs the edge put on it, and I need to figure out what to put on it for handles, Im thinking a hikory or a general run of the mill hardwood.

So what do you think guys?"

I think that your first deserves better than run of the mill hardwood! Give me a shout and I'll send you out some nicer wood. How thick do you want the handle scales? You can use run of the mill hardwood for everybody else's knives, but your first is special. I have some birds eye maple (undyed or stabilized) cocobolo, lacewood, thin bocote planks that I'll slab out for you.

Keep on going, it is a dangerous slope that is quite fun.

P.S. Would you like some Kydex for it as well?

Holy crap man, that would be amazing. Im gonna finish up the edge and do some over all polish work, but Ill be sending an e-mail man, thank you so much.

Ok guys, here is how it came out, might it add it cuts like only a scandi can!:D
In hand again.

So, it came out sharp right off the sander, Im going to finish it up on the stones and give it a real blazin edge.

What do you guys think I should do for handles and a sheath, I would like a kydex sheath and some fancy handles, but go you guys have any personaly prefernce you think might work on this knife.

Great job on the edge! I however would go with leather and not kydex on the sheath. Just my preference with a wood handled knife.

Oh man, Fonly, in those two pictures where you're shaving wood, I hope you didn;t cut up the family bonzai tree! ((( :D )))

The knife looks good too! If I thought I could do that well on my first try, I'd be in the shop right now.

man, you guys wont believe how sharp I got this knife, im putting up a video now.

Here is it.

Absolutly amazing sharpness, so impressed with it. I dont even know what carbon steel this is, I think its something like O1, or close. But man it takes a nice edge.

thats what I was thinking, something with a darker brown sheath.

Youre inspiring me. I need to clean up the work area and start on a knife.

I have an idea for handles , if the wood is not to hard. Around here there are hundred year old osage orange fence post. I bet that center wood on one would make an indestructable handle.

Thats interesting you mention that, There were some fence post I rummaged while they were doing construction ( I had permission to take them) and they are ver dense, especially the tops that were weathered.

Have to check that out, thanks for the idea.

Excellent, TF and the next time you're talking to her, tell her I really enjoyed her in JAG.

Hey Fonly,

Looks excellent and good on you for getting at it. I've been meaning to make a knife file for a while. IIRC, that's how Randall got his start and Anza (I think) still does. Haven't seen the video yet - takes a while to download and I was out playing in the snow today with 4-1/2 hours sleep last night, so I'm playing chin drop on the keyboard. I'm going to have to hit the hay, but I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Looks like a very handy knife. "Goog" job on the edge.
Can't wait to see it with handles and pants.

looks like a great knife, especially seeing as it is your first. i got my first on in the makings currently, i still need to add the scales though.
