What do you guys use your Busse's for?

Hello all,

I'm relatively new to Busse world. I have been a knife collector and user for years, I have been EDC'ing a folder for about 8 years now, and have been dabbling into the higher end of things within the past two, progressing from Spyderco to Emerson and finally up to Strider, Chris Reeve, and even Hinderer.

Within the past few months I began the search for the perfect fixed blade. I shoot long range regularly in the wild, and wanted a larger fixed blade to strap to my drag bag for chopping bushes and foliage out of the way at my firing position and at the target, as well as cutting rope, cardboard, etc (obviously the folder will do those jobs just fine.)

I bought a few Striders first, but really wanted to see What Busse is all about. I bought a HHFSH, and it is awesome, but HUGE! I just bought an ASH-1 LE hoping that the size is a little more reasonable, should be here early next week.

Anyhow, I have been reading quite a bit, and it seems like you guys chop a fair amount of wood with these things. I must admit, I have a large (6" diameter, 7' long) branch in my backyard from an old oak, and I am just itching to go cut it up for firewood with this thing. But other than that, I am thinking that this blade is a bit on the large thing.

What do you guys do with YOUR Busse's? Trying to find more uses for these so I can justify buying more. I have been thinking I "need" a Battle Mistress to compliment my collection.

Thanks all,

-Bob

Well, I have seen them used for everything from holding down a display case to spreading peanut butter......and even literally cut a car apart.

What you do with it is left to your imagination.

Busse's come in all shapes and sizes, just about every fixed blade setup imaginable, go to the Busse Swamprat for sale forum and have a look, have fun hold on to your wallet, ha ha ha .

I chop firewood with my FFBM, split it with a Battle Rat, and prepare kindling with my Desert Jack :) I am a lucky man!

I only use them to make sheaths with :(

Na that would make me a poser :)

I use them to chop up everything and make sheaths with them :)

And make Bullets lighter ;)

I make kindling with my BWM, cut meat with my Basic 6, chop vegetables with my Muk, fondle my FBM-LE, and play super ninja with my Rucki.

I trust you know that a Battle Mistress, in any flavor, is bigger than a FSH? The Bushwacker Mistress with micarta scales will be longer, but may be lighter than your HHFSH, especially if you have thick G10 scales on there.

The new B10 will be lighter and easier to carry, great for your application. They should be hitting the Exchange about now.

I used my B11 this morning to clear thorny brush, move leaves on the ground to uncover tracks, and pick up deer droppings (so my fingers didn't smell like $#*+). I use them for all kinds of stuff but I can only remember one day at a time. :D

I use my BM for Chopping and piece of mind from real and mabey imagened predators and my MS for everything else, cutting rope, carving, traps, slicing food, spreading peanutbutter and EDC

As much as I want to use mine to do hardcore mountain man things, most of mine collect dust. Besides, I can't even grow a beard. I've learned to accept that, though. Er, being a collector--I still wish I could grow a beard. The ones I do use are my Basic 11 for chopping and shaving wood and my CABS for shaving and carving.

Part of the reason for this is because I have sheaths for the B11 and CABS. I'll be getting some sheaths really really soon, so I'll probably bring my Bushwacker Mistress out to use more.

Oh, for sure, but they look like great fun!

I am even trying to find reasons to get an AK-47...

... sorry, couldn't resist. I'm from the Internet.

The smaller blades go in the EDC rotation or paired up with larger blades. The larger blades get an equal amount of heavy use, camping, lighter pine (fat wood) collecting and processing ect.ect. They all get fondled and stroped to perfection in the end.
