There are hundreds of threads on this site asking what people put in their BUG OUT BAGS. What I want to know is what people don't have.

Soooo, my question is this. What do you have in your BUG OUT BAG that you think no one else might have?

Water filters / Fire starters / Knives / Guns / Fishing gear / Rope / Whisky / First aid kit ~ these are common examples of what one might find in a BUG OUT BAG, however these are not the answers I am looking for.

The reason I am interested is because there are so many obscure objects in the world that might go great in a BUG OUT BAG that just may have not been thought of by most people. I have extra space in my BUG OUT BAG and I am looking to fill it with all kinds of weird and interesting things!

I will start out by saying one item in my BUG OUT BAG that I believe has not been put into many such bags.

CAYENNE PEPPER: There are so many uses for cayenne pepper i'm just going to rattle of a few from the top of my head.

1) YUM! It'll taste great on any wild game I catch. Shoot if it comes down to it, it may even make my leather jacket taste better!
2) Home made pepper spray ~ Enough said.
3) There are so many healing remedy's associated with cayenne pepper it would be hard to name them all.
4) If you ever have the opportunity to settle down and grow some vegetable or anything of the sort cayenne pepper can be mixed with water and put on you plants to fend of the critters who might want to take your lunch.
5) I have heard that it can clot wounds? Not my first choice but if its a dire emergency anything is better than bleeding out.

There you have it, a few reasons why I carry a generous amount of cayenne pepper in my bug out bag.

Lets hear some of yours now.

I can't say I NEVER see them in people's load-out lists, but I'm always amazed by the
number of lists that lack anything from the following 3 categories:

1. Toys / Morale items for the kids.
2. Handheld amateur radio equipment
3. Lockpicking / Lock bypass gear

Granted, #'s 2 & 3 are skill-dependent, but come on, some guys here have taken the time to learn how to build fire 17 ways.......

I have a small Stanley Wonderbar prybar. It weighs about 6 oz. and is about 8 inches long. I think it was 6 dollars at Ace.

I really like the kids toys for morale. It shows that you are thinking way ahead. Not only of yourself but you entire family.

Great stuff.

I personally bring a sketchpad. Time has to be passed in someway right? What better way then drawing stuff?

I keep a 6" file, the kind that has a hex end to fit in a handle. I don't have the handle. It's not real necessary, but I can make one if needed. There are many uses for a file.

Sure...

Copenhagen long cut: tobacco has tons of uses in the field as a antiseptic, bug repellant, good to remove worms, and tastes just plain great.

A flashbang or two: sometimes some distraction or early warning can come in handy.

CAT tourniquet and Israeli dressing: cause when you need to stop bleeding band aids ain't squat.

I have to agree with the above. Lockpicking sets (with skill) and a small pry bar is huge.

WHERE THE HELL DID YOU BUY A FLASHBANG???? Email me please.

A small solar battery charger with an adaptor kit for various electronics. It won't even fully charge a cell phone in a day but it's better than extra batteries.

I carry a fly swatter.
You can not kill them all but I can sure kill the little winged bastards that are bothering right at the moment.

Probably the most thoughtful item i've ever heard being in a BOB - deerflies, sandflies, etc are sheer hell on the nerves - a huge negative on positive attitude (key to survival).

I have some very thin, strong missile guidance wire to use for bird, drag and "snap" snares (as in "snap their head right off" with enough tension!).

Pack a gun...

I can't say I NEVER see them in people's load-out lists, but I'm always amazed by the
number of lists that lack anything from the following 3 categories:

1. Toys / Morale items for the kids. Teach them to safely use guns, they're fun!
2. Handheld amateur radio equipment 3 Gunshots = universal distress signal.
3. Lockpicking / Lock bypass gear Shoot the lock.
