I've been spending a lot of time online on Going Gear's website and the little Aluminum capsules look really cool Link here. I'm thinking about buying a few but before I do I need to come up with some uses for them.

So let me ask, What do you guys store in your little Aluminum capsules? I'm thinking of keeping some wood shavings in one and some chared cloth or Vasaline soaked cotton balls in others. Those are the obvious uses, what else do you keep in there? Thanks,

Heber

I keep three on my keychain. One has aspirin, one has Aleve, and one has an eyeglass repair kit. I switched the long screwdriver for one that normally would go in Victorinox corkscrew, so it would fit. This pic shows them before I added the eyeglass one.

Stomper, thanks for the reply. Storing pills in them is a great idea, why I didn't think of that I'll never know. Doh! LOL

Thanks,

I keep benadryl in mine. Comes in handy for allergies, bug bites, and itching that can sometimes occur out in the woods.

I keep my meds in them. I have really bad allergy problems and having wet allergy medication would be a big problem for me, so I do everything I can to keep them clean and dry. I know other people that carry money, tinder, and all kinds of other things in them. The battery capsule will actually fit a CR123 battery in it perfectly.

make sure to carry chewable fast acting aspirin. that way you can use them for heart attacks too.

I've got one packed with petroleum jelly. I keep some cotton balls in a tiny ziplock.

Another has some immodium in it. I HATE getting intestinal trouble far away from the comforts of home.:(

Say, Munky, that's a really good idea. I have a small sealed tube for my Nitro, but chewable aspirin in one of these capsules would work really well.

Thanks.

I've got some new sizes coming in the next month or so in case you don't see one that works for you.

I just ordered four of the small Capsules (2each of blue and red) and two of the Battery Capsules. Thanks for the heads up on the new sizes coming in. I'll keep my eye out for them. I'm better more sizes will be good.

Very good idea. I got some red ones for Asprin and Blue ones for Ibuprofen.

I don't have alergies to plants but carrying Benadryl for Bug bites sounds like a great idea. Thanks.

Guys, please keep the information coming.

I though so too. I always carry them whenever I'm doing the Grouse Grind. Lotta people doing it that shouldn't be. Quite a few heart attacks on that trail every year. Never had to use them. Our paramedic protocol is for 2 of the 81mg chewable children tablets. don't take more than 162mg in 24hours. ie: if your doctor prescribes 1 in the morning, only take 1 unless he says otherwise. try to drink water after, regular aspirin contraindications apply. (stomach pain, GI bleeds, blood thinners ect...)

Make sure you have the fast acting once. The red coating once have a delayed release ie: you're dead before it counts. though they are better for aches and pains.

regular I am not a doctor, don't sue me things apply to the above.

I've been carrying Nitro for ten years now, but I've only used it (and may not have needed it) once. I'm pretty careful with aspirin: one a day, and I use acetaminophen for pain. But if you are having a heart attack, a couple of aspirin can save your life.

I won't sue.

I've heared about carrying Nitro tablets a lot recently. Is this something one can by over the counter?

What is immodium? I don't think I've heared of it before.

for Diarrhea from a gastric flu, or inflammatory bowl syndrome.

Thanks for that information. Sounds like something that would be good to have along on campouts. Is it easy to get?

Thanks,

Heber

Nitro isnt over the counter, you'd have to go to your doctor about it. There may be some reduced concentrations over the counter for other things. Anyways the good stuff is for angina attacks. If you think you have angina go to your doctor about it, its pretty simple. Otherwise it wont do you any good for the kind of heart attack you're most likely to have.

Immodium is over the counter, and i should probibly point out that it treats symptoms, not the actual problem. it basically just slows things down and gives it a chance to dry out more. so if you're asking if it will save you from a bad water bug, probibly not. will keep your pants cleaner though.

No more pharmaceutical advice... I'm afraid I'm going to hurt someone. strike up a conversation with your pharmacist when you're over there. They're very educated people, and its worth fact checking a guy on the internet. Honestly they're better than your doctor is for medication. good people to get to know.
