What do you really do with your knives

The hardest use my knives get are:
Cutting fiberglass casting (the broken bone kind) material.
Prepping deer.
Prepping fish.
Building shelters and other camping tasks.
Yardwork.

I'm curious as to why you need a knife to cut bone casts (and not have your doctor do it with a saw), and if you do this FREQUENTLY?

I use my knives for many of the uses already mentioned. One I seem to relish is cutting those doggone tags out of shirts. They always irritate me so the first thing I do is slice out the tags. Aaaaahhhh! That's much better!

Some knives I use, some I collect. Some I don't know why the heck I bought them.

But I have this fascination with them all. There is something atavistic about knives that reaches back to when the first cave man reached for a rock and found it had a sharp edge...

Knives are part of the history of man.

I think I should've phrased it differently. I meant splinting material. It comes in big rolls, and is usually a bear to cut with the dull scissors.

Shann, if you've enjoyed your knives, they've been wirth every penny. Not everything has to be justified.

I carry a fixed blade as a back up to my handgun, but the design is utilitarian enough to make sandwiches, cut pizza, etc. with.

Carry a Leatherman Super tool for blade dulling tasks like opening boxes and stuff.

occasional food prep, opening letters boxes etc, embarrassing people who carry crappy knives, something to play with when i'm bored. Mostly just cutting stuff that needs cutting.

I use my knives mainly for

opening mail and packages
shredding credit card offers
cleaning/trimming fingernails/cuticles
opening boxes and bags of food at work
opening food/candy packaging (since the "Tear Here" things usually suck)

I've also used my knives on numerous occasions as first aid such as digging out splinters and glass shards/rocks (when I fall off my bike). I've even used them on other people's wounds (nothing serious though).

Plus, since all my knives are autos or balisongs, they entertain me when I'm bored/fidgety. Nothing like knifesturbation to keep my hands busy.

the fascinating capacity of a blade does not come that with sound with dimensions aesthetic... if not you would be satisfied with sculptures modern based on steel... The blade is attractive because it returns us has our primitive instincts (a little like fire us fascine...).

I use my SAK for day to day tasks eg opening packages, preparing food, trimming nails etc

Yesterday my Fallkniiven A1 make an excellend job of jointing the turkey, we had a big turkey ready for Christmas but things went wrong and we ended up only needed one breast, so the rest is nicely jointed in the freezer now :D
