What do you really use your knives for......

The mirror-edged CPM-20CV of my 940-1501 just effortlessly removed a hangnail on my left hand ring finger. Pretty nip and tuck there for a while, but Ol' Blue and I made it through. But the one-handed deployment was a must; couldn't have gotten my Alox Cadet* open with this crippling injury to one hand.

* Of course I carry two knives while I sit in my office, alas. Whatever--knives are fun!

I find any and every reason I can to use my xm-18....... Which makes my wife laugh. You would think she would be happy with the fact that I try and get the most out of something I spent so much money on.... oh well, time to go cut up some heavy-duty leftover pot roast:D

For opsec reasons I cannot disclose any details of the elite tactical operator missions I conduct daily. Why yes, I do own an Emerson, how did you know?

;)

That's awesome! Good use of your blade, of course, but can you tell me the name of the tent... always looking for new gear, and that one has got my attention. Thanks, Anthony

*And no, I did not get it all back into the bag... had to keep the pole bag strapped to the carry bag, lol.

A couple days ago I used my 4116 stainless taiwanese KaBar Hunter to cut fishing line before retyinging...
Caught this little bad boy...

There's not enough internet to list my knife uses.
Trying to think how I've not used them. I'll get back to you on that.

Every day I open bags or boxes at home or on job site. Lots of shaving wood to smooth it or shaving off paint curtains or glue blobs. Cutting string, rope, and strapping. Cleaning up saw cuts like a bullnose block plane would do, but I have a knife on me. Cutting paint at a tape edge or cover plate so paint doesn't tear when item is removed. Opening avocados and other fruit at lunch. So many applications for a sharp knife in my daily life, I can't count them all.

Oh yeah, chamfering wood corners and deburring plastic pipe/conduit and sometimes copper tube when reamer won't fit in the space (think remodeling). I also sometimes scrape with the spine to get paint off a copper line so a compression fitting will seal correctly for a shutoff valve. Cutting sprues off molded plastic parts.

Yesterday I used my Kabar US Army fighting knife in the rock garden, cutting open top soil bags, helping dig out some rocks from a dirt pile, other odds and ends as well.

And it was raining, yet the non stainless crovan steel didn't melt into a rusty junk bucket.... actually developed a small bit of patina on the edge though...

*the day before, I used my Buck Quickfire to open the packaging containing this bad boy;

My new rod...

I do a lot of vegetation cutting. Mostly green thorn bushes and they range from easy, to very hard to cut. Knives are surprisingly varied in the efficiency they accomplish this simple task.

Use my Fixed blades for camping. There are plenty of uses to me in the outdoors. My EDC slices an apple every at lunch time, among a few miscellaneous chores. The rest for admiring and thinking about the functional use and history of days gone by.
