What do you say to "non-knife people" when they say stupid/ignorant things

I work in a machine shop, and a coworker (22 year old male) saw my Blur in my toolbox.
Him "What do you need that big knife for?"
Me "That isn't big, it is just the right size. Check out what I carry in my pocket." (hand him my 3.5" XM-18, opened) "See how nice it fits your hand?"
Him "Oh, I guess it does."

Here we go again.

I just ignore them, pretend they don't exist. This doesn't make friends or influence people, but then the stupid don't rub off.

Seriously though, I just cut things when nobody pays attention. Hardly ever does it get noticed, let alone commented on.

I could just read a handful of threads and probably get some good responses but, when a person says stuff like "I don't like knives" without offering anything to back up their position or "what do you need THAT for?" Or "That's too scary" how do you respond to these people?

First I say "No do not worry it is ok I am not scared". If it is a guy then I tell him to throw his man card away if he has one. If it is a girl then my response is simple: "Oh this, it works great for hangnails"
